all over sudden, my compaq nx9030 battery will not take any charge, I have checked the adaptor, it seems to be ok and gives 18.5 V.
My guess is either the battery is damaged completly or the charging circuit inside the lap top is out of order, I have tried some software called battery doubler, still the same thing, could you please help me out , how to measure the battery output? and how to measure the output voltage at the connector inside the laptop for charging the battery?
thankyou in advace

I suggest to try removing the battery and get it back and start again ..If it crashed and turned off it may need to be disconnected from all power before starting again ..Or the battery may be in short and conflict with the ac power..so ..try to boot up with the ac power alone .. The blue light is not usually a fault ....when the board is damaged the light is usually amber..
If the date and clock is not keeping your settings to blame is the bios battery ..and need to be changed..The battery is usually on he main board just under the keyboard..and the wireless card ..and can be accessed from the front if you remove the hinges cover..than all the screws of the keyboard ..slide the keyboard toward the display for an inch and lift it ..Unplug it from the ribbon ..and you will have the wireless card exposed..You have to remove this card also and you will see the battery .. it is possible to not be able to remove it ..and have to open it in half to get to the motherboard ...to do that you have to remove all from it ..including disk drive ..battery and hard disk ...and all teh screws for to open it in half .. or ..for most compaq model the battery is accessible from the back .. take a look on these videos .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R57XXxxLgoE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZfbH6-slXE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aboaX0fI83o here are 3 different situations ..try to see if your model have access from the back to the battery ..if not ..you have to strip the front and see if there is access under the keyboard..
if you are talking about the log on password for windows xp, when booting up, right before the windows XP logo comes up and it shows that its loading, press F8 like 3 times every second till a screen with writing comes up. If unsuccessful, keep trying, it should come up in 2 - 3 tries. Choose to boot in Safe Mode. when the logging screen comes up, log on Administrator. When logged on, go into control panel - user accounts - click on the account you want to remove password from and remove it. Restart PC, log in to the account, and that's it.
