Right click the Norton icon on your Windows application tray, which is located near the clock display on your computer.

View the Norton 360 Control Panel that displays. You will see the Firewall enabled and Auto Protect enabled menu options checked.
Un-check the options for the Firewall and Autoprotect to disable Norton. You will then be asked to select a time-frame for disabling the automatic protective services that ranges from 15 minutes to five hours, the next computer restart or forever. If you choose forever, you will need to manually enable Norton 360 protective services at a future time.
Exit the Norton 360 Control Panel by selecting the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the Norton 360 panel. Norton 360 will now be turned off.

There are some flash games i cant play. my flash play is up to date but i was told it could be my fire wall how do i fix it???

If these games are online in-browser games DO NOT DISABLE YOUR FIREWALL!!! Browser games do not need you to disable your firewall. Disabling your firewall is like putting out a welcome mat for hackers and spyware. Are you sure you've updated to the latest flash player. Go to the Adobe website and check if your version is the same as the latest available download. Version 10.2 is available at the moment.

My norton had about to expired soon. i had no money to purchase that so i was looking for free activation of my norton anti virus...could you help me to fixed my problem?

The only answer to your problem is to disable Norton and install a free anti virus program. Yes, go for AVG free version from www.download.com. It is very good. I have been using it for over ten yrs and am satisfied with it. You can revert to Norton when you have the money for it.

Do I need a Norton-type security for my laptop, or is AVG sufficient ?

Hi,
AVG is more than sufficient for a home computer.
Norton takes quite a lot of system resources and slows computers down dramatically. AVG on the other hand uses 2/3rds less resources than Norton and is just as good.

Reagrds.

Norton Internet Security 2009 Causes Blue Screen of Death.

Hi there
Thats Norton for you! this is a very heavy and memory hungry program, it takes control of your computer and if you have not got enough system or virtual memory it will cause the pc all kinds of problems. To fix this either upgrade the system memory or don't use Norton, use AVG free instead, its a lighter program and lets you have some speed back over the internet.

good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

My antivirus seems to be working against me!!!

Hello hawk893

Are you logged into a Windows profile w/ Administrator privileges?

If not, change your user profile rights to Administrator (from another Administrator profile).

If the problem persists, enter Safe Mode and try enabling and disabling NAV (Norton Antivirus) from there.

If the problem still persists, you may have picked up a virus that disabled your AV software. You can go HERE if you like to perform an online AV scan. There are other sites as well that will do this for you. Just perform a search engine search on "Online AV Scan".

If you need assistance w/ any of these recommendations, just let me know. I'll be happy to provide detailed instructions for you.

Please, let us know if this response was helpful for you or, of course, if you have more questions, etc. on this topic.

Thank you
BJ
