This could be because of an amp, or it could just be a bad solder joint. Unfortunately, it's impossible to find an amp to replace it because sirius does not release a schematic. So, most likely it's irreparable.
If you would like to see if it's a bad solder, just leave it near a heater and plug it in. If it works, that should tell you that you should reflow your radio. Reflowing is easy, just remove the circuit board from the plastics and heat it up to 800-1000 degrees F with a heat gun. Let it cool and reassemble.
First of all, suggest using an SD card of 2GB or under. Second, firmware update. Here's the details: This is a common problem with SkyFi3 units. You have to press the Volume UP button and hold it while you press the POWER button; this will 'reboot' your radio, then you can try it again to get it to go off.
You will need to update your firmware on the radio using the baby USB cable and the unit plugged into your computer WITH the battery recharged FIRST. Also, go to the www. xmradio dot com website and download the SkyFi3 FIRMWARE update. Then you need to download the "firmware update" into your SkyFi3.
If this doesn't fix your lockup problem, you need to call DELPHI customer support, and they can tell you one more 'master reset' method. After the firmware update, it might take 2 or 3 'restarts'.
Again, press and hold the Volume UP and PWR at the same time to reset a 'locked-up' SkyFi3. Regards, John
Press and hold volume up and power button at the same time to do a reset and to power down. You need to update firmware from the XM website to your unit and then do a master reset. contact Delphi by phone for deatailss lon how to reset and update firmware. Do not use a card larger than 2GB either.
I brought it a while back, almost two years ago, for some $65. But it is not worth it to buy this remote to me. The reason is the power consumption of this remote. It eat up power so fast, that I get tired of replacing the batteries. Otherwise it is an OK remote. So I was lucky to have found that this remote would trigger the control amp. Not too many other universal remote will. eBay has them. Here is a link to one. http://cgi.ebay.com/Kameleon-6-in-one-Universal-Remote_W0QQitemZ320329874740QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item320329874740&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50
