Diane, We try to steer people away from new Epson printers unless they plan on purchasing a professional model. The new Epson cartirdges have little ink and finicky. I would try power cycling the machine with the cartridges removed (unplug it for 30sec.) then reinstall the cartridges. If the problem persist call Epson and let them know what you think. If they don't help you, buy an HP. But but an HP that takes integrated print head cartridges or you'll be in the same situation.
While waiting for more info from you, Look for these :
If you have bought a new cartridge: Make sure you purchased the right ink. Make sure you removed the tape covering the print head. Make sure you have installed the the cartridge correctly. Look for the expiration date, old cartridges dry out!
If you have had the cartridge in the printer for a long time the ink might have crusted on the print head take out the cartridge and rinse the print head under warm tap water for a minute or so. then dry the hole cartridge thoroughly with a paper cloth OBS! don't rub the print head too much! put the cartridge back in the printer. If it doesn't help, maybe it is time to get a new cartridge!
Happy fixing things! PLZ, Don't forget to rate! Bruce
there is one thing that if you refill the cartriage and then use again then still ink indicator shows low ink as its' ckt is designed so.
there is no problem you can print easily. your printer will show correct ink level when you put in new cartriage.
but remember one thing that if your printer stops printing and shows message on computer that no ink in cartriage ,, then you need to reset printer counter, (this resetting process is present in your printer manual)
so no problem in printing, it shows low ink because the circuit inside it is designed soo.
so that you purchase new cartriage. (remember : you need to reset the counter , refer to manual)
To get your printer to recognize the new cartridge; go to start - printer and faxes -right click on printer - preferences (printing preferences) -settings -load factory settings. Print test page Ctrl+P
The ink level indicator is only an estimate to give you an idea when it's time to buy a new cartridge. You cannot reset the ink level indicator so simply ignore it if you refill your cartridges. See pg 72 of the user manual which you can get here:
