Frig will start and cool to about 50 but then just shuts off. Did continuity cheeck on relay should good. cleaned coils. when in operation it shows it using 1.2 amps. Fans work fine. Is it possibly the thermostate? Or coild it be over loading at some point and shutting down? Or is it a freon problem? Or?

SOURCE: freezer refreezing continuously

Yes the defrost system is not functioning properly. You will need  a Ohmmeter to properly diagnose it. If you are going to tackle it and need to know what to check, let me know. If so the defrost thermostat (clipped to a freon tube near the top of the coil in the freezer) Should be closed when its below 20deg and open when its 50+deg. Also the heater should have somewhere between 10-20ohms reistance.

SOURCE: refrigerator is out but freezer still works

Hello dan_2137
Welcome,

You said, overloaded freezer may have caused fan to go out? Is this possible? Cleaned dust from compressor and shut off to let it cool down but it is still not working

Yes It's possible. If the freezer is so packed full where the packages cover the air vents in the rear of the freezer.
The freezer and the fridge share the cold air and this is the first think we look for if the fridge is warm and the freezer cold, And the fan works nonstop rather than cycling off and on!

What is the model number and year of your fridge!
Waiting your response.

SOURCE: refrigeraotr is out but freezer still works

doesnt make adiff how you loaded freezer, shouldnt affect fan operation anyway. if you have a meter you can check for proper voltage(110v) to fan wires and if you have power youll need to replace fan, easy enough to do just a few screws and about $50.. part number 5304445861.

SOURCE: my frig is running but not cooling - frig is 50

I can help you diagnose the problems with your GE. Several things can cause these symptoms. All you need is a voltage meter patience and a want to, to repair and do it better than a paid technician. In most cases with the PSS26MSRSS the defrost heater is the cause for this. Look into rear of your freezer and back wall. Is Ice or frost building on rear wall? If yes unplug and prepair to remove contents in freezer compartment. Remove rear panel in freezer and use hair dryer to defrost ice until the defrost heater is visible. BRB , Sea Breeze

Testimonial: "Thanks for the quick help - yes frost on back wall. Once I unload and defrost should I then take out defrost thermostat? "

Norcold DE0061, AC/DC frig, not gas absorption type. Compressor runs continually, as does fan. Coils are clean. Unit does not cool, gets frig compartment only down to 64 deg. F.

With a miniscule leak, it is not easy to detect with liquid type detector, a halogen leak detector may or may not detect it.
What after a leak is detected, it needs to be patched, soldered, but refrigerant would need to be removed first.
You may install a tap on service port, it clamps on the line and no soldering required.
With normal operation, the top 2/3 of the condenser coil is hotter than the bottom 1/3 of the coil.

I own a Fogel Fridge Model # VR-17-RE-PR Recently

Richard,
It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. If there is a loose connection to the compressor via the start/over load relay (normally attaches directly onto the compressor), or if the start/over load otself is bad the compressor will not run. Best way to tell is via gauges but I doubt your frig has ports. Check to see if your compressor is really hot. Could be bad start/over load relay or bad compressor. Try unplugging your frig for say 30 min then, with your hand on top of a cool compressor, plug the frig back in and see if compressor smoothly vibrates for at least 5 min without becoming very hot or shutting off even though fan continues to run. The fact your fan is running TYPICALLY means the thermostat is calling for lower temps and the fan/compressor kick in together.

When the start/over load relay fails, it can apply power to both the compressors start coil AND it's run coil at the same time for to long and it very quickly causes and over load situation. I bet your "Starting Components" (start/over load relay) are bad. Any decent appliance parts store will have what you need. Just take in the make, model, and serial number of tour frig.

My frig is not cooling. I have a side by side and neither side is cooling.

Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. The relay is a small usually black cube shaped electrical part plugged into the compressor or wired to it nearby. It may appear burnt or rattle when shaken if it's bad. The two connections should show continuity with an amp meter. If it's good then it's most likely the compressor causing the problem.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

My freezer is not freezig and the refrig is not getting cold. There is a notice coming from what I assume to be the compressor in the back of the refrig at the bottom.

Check Relay and overload on compressor terminal. sometimes due to faulty relay overload tripping which makes tik tik sound. before replacing relay need to start compressor directly.
