We have a Polaroid 15 inch LCD television with a built-in dvd player. It also allows for jumpdrive connection. I must be missing something but we cannot figure out how to play a dvd. I put a dvd into the slot; clicked input on the remote and can see there is a dvd option but no matter what we do, we cannot move the arrow to dvd. I thought, then, I better eject the disc. Again, I'm usually pretty handy with electronics, but we cannot figure out how to eject it. Is there a button we're missing? Help appreciated.

Do you have the Polaroid 1513-TDXB? I assume you have tried the eject button on the side of the TV (the lowest button next to the DVD slot). There are a few things that can cause a DVD to jam and not be recognized by the drive: put in the disc label side to the back of the TV, home disc with a glued on label (if the label comes loose), two discs in the slot or non-standard optical discs.

Some slot optical drives have a manual eject hole on one side of the slot; it should be near the top of the slot on this unit. Straighten a paperclip and try pushing on the release mechanism inside that hole. (A small paperclip is the correct size.) Sometimes pushing the optical disc with a second optical disc will bump it loose (be careful you do not want the disc to be dragged into the drive). Another possible solution is to pry the disc up off the spindle with a credit card. (Note: trying this could damage the disc and the drive.) A similar card with double sided sticky tape can sometimes lift the disc off the spindle. Stick the tape on the card, then peel the paper off the other side of the tape. Insert the card to be on the top of the disc (sticky side towards the back of the TV) and press it down on the disc. Lift up slightly and pull the card and optical disc out.

If the disc has partially ejected, two credit cards (one above and one below) can grab it. Turning the TV on its side so that the optical drive is pointing to the ground can also work.

There are a few things to check once you get the disc out. Were there scratches or other problems that would keep the drive from seeing the disc? Other optical drive issues are dirt on the lens and the tracking unit failing on the drive. Blowing the dirt out of the drive may help. Otherwise, it needs to be fixed or replaced which means getting it out of the TV.

The manual for the TV is available at this review site: http://www.hdtvreview.com/Polaroid-1513-TDXB-hdtv.html . The direct link to the manual is http://www.hdtvreview.com/pdf/polaroid-1513-tdxb-manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Hi. Hope you can help with a DVD problem we have with our Polaroid TDA-03211C television: After I insert a DVD, I hear two clicks and then the message "No Disk" appears on the screen. The DVD player is not...

We had the same problem. Call Polaroid and they will send you a replacement dvd player. It was a malfunction on their part. It seems the DVD player gets too hot and then it doesn't work anymore.
