Question about Televison & Video

5 Answers

The unit displays only a random bunch of horizontal lines. It used to do this after playing nicely for about 10 minutes or so, but now it starts off with a screen full of lines, as though it's reading a lot of digital data. The device is a 7 inch portable DVD player, made by Protron. Model PDV 228. The lines keep filling the screen even after the disc has been removed, which tells me it's not the disc, but in the player itself.

You say the problem is in the screen, I don't
know about that, because yhe unit will play ok
for about 20 minutes before it starts acting up
    again.
Te unit is 3 years old, so it's out of warranty
    so your solution is bogus.

    Thank you, guys !
I followed your suggestion about using a separate
monitor, and it showed me that it was truly the
    LCD that was at fault.
Now I can rest easy, knowing that it isn't in the
interface area, so I'll just look for another LCD,
or just junk it. Thank you especially, Benimur!

You need to give DVD player for service as the unit as the hardware problem, this usually happens when there is crack in the ribbon cable of the player which where the data is sent ..........

Good luck....

If you can open the DVD Player and try to re-seat(unplug and replug) the wires(cabel) for the display
check the lense of the players if it is blue or it is white as the issue could be with the lense as it has gone bad

if you cannot do this get a technician and he can check these for you may be you need a new lense that reads the DVD ot the display may be you can just get it resolved by re-seating the cable

I think it is a problem of the screen of the DVD player .

When it get heat some of the electronic item in the circuit board get loos connection ( I C or any other electronic item in the circuit board )

So the best thing is go to the electrician and check it.

Hi,

Initially, this would be a defective LCD panel or its interface. A way to verify is to play the portable DVD using an external video monitor such as your TV. If the lines are stll shown even in the TV/monitor, then it would be the video interface/circuitry. If the lines are gone, then it would just be the LCD panel display.

Though this is a simple repair job, the troublesome part would be looking for a replacement part and disassembling the unit. There are no soldering works required but one or two connectors only.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Yes this can be a problem with the player itself most likely with the screen part of the player that may need to be repair,, if its still under warranty you can contact the manufacturer for repair or for replacement....

Good luck......

When connected to any computer and attempt to play any video,it has a bunch of horizontal lines resembling a barcode running horizontally across image.

Hi my name is Vortash the bars you are seeing are the result of a capacitor or diode failure in the projector possibly in the power supply , they are usually referred to as ac hum bars .. this is where a circuit that should be running on pure dc voltage is being tainted by ac seepage from another part of the machine .. its also possible with the heat generated in these units it is just bad solder or dry joints ,,, best get an engineer to check it though as ot may damage the bulb and I would bet money on a repair being cheaper than a replacement bulb hoe this helps regards Vortash

Not getting constant play back

This is an excellent system for a bedroom or small office area. The random color changing light feature is very soothing to fall asleep to as well as the random/all disc playback so you don't fall asleep to the same thing every night! The 90 minute max sleep timer is just perfect to give me time to read a little and still be able to fall asleep to music. I also use the random playback feature during the day to play my parrot's training CDs so he doesn't get bored either! This is a great system and I highly recommend it.

Picture gets bad after playing a while

Just the usual problem of needing the rubber belts replaced.
They last about 6 years normally so you are overdue.
Buy a kit of belts for your model from all kinds of sites on the net and install them yourself if you are handy with delicate mechanisms.
Hope ya fix it!

Black horizontal lines appear after tv is on for 30 minutes

Kellia,

I had the same problem with our VS-55705 Mitsubishi. It seemed to me that this was a problem of heat.

I unplugged the TV and then took the cover off of the back of the it. I then used canned air to blow off the collection of dust from the components. Then I vacuumed as close to everything as I could without touching any of the components. I then used glass cleaner to clean up the surface of the three bulbs.

I plugged in the TV and it has worked perfect ever since. I haven't put the rear cover back on it yet. That could have been all that I needed to do to fix it. I'm too busy enjoying a nice picture to try putting it back on. Cleaning the bulbs really helped the quality of the picture.

Good Luck!

Too late now but I hope you had it serviced while it was still on parts warranty. With a couple of exceptions, service on those is by major pcb replacement.
