Hard disk 1 (3f1) error on HP pavillion dm1 series

So, can you see it in My Computer? If yes, get your data off the drive and format it!

If you can't access your files, data recovery software can help.I used this one called Tenorshare Data Recovery to retrieve files off crashed HDD and it worked.
If needed, you can download it and scan your hard drive for free to preview whether your files can be recovered.Get it from http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm

NOT ABLE TO INSTALL WINDOW XP

Hi meetabdullah,

Have a nice day.

If you're running Windows XP and your computer software crashes or becomes unusable, you may have to run Windows XP recovery to reestablish your software and make your computer usable once again. When purchased, many computers don't come with a Windows XP recovery disk, but you can download one for free. The Windows XP recovery disk holds almost all of the computer software and files that came loaded with your PC and can assist you in rebuilding your hard drive.

Here are some instructions that somehow could help you:

1.Place a formatted disk in your disk drive. Click on the "Download a Windows XP recovery disk from Microsoft" link in Resources below. Click "Download." Then click "Save." Find your disk drive on the menu and click "OK."

2. Remove the disk when the Windows XP recovery disk download is complete, and place it in the computer on which you need to use it.

3.Shut down your computer; then turn your computer back on. Your computer will automatically start up running on the Windows XP recovery disk, which will allow you to install Windows XP once again.

if you cant remember your password you must use your recovery disk but this will mean you'll format your hard drive so all your files will be deleted or you could use a program called hdd unlock youll need a computer to do this because laptops only have one docking station for a hard drive to save space if you do have a computer connect your hard rive using a docking station download this program for your hard drive to be usable again http://www.hddunlock.com/download/.

How do you wipe the compaq presario m2000

I'm not sure if you are wiping it to start over or to sell/give away.

Many newer machines have a Recovery Partition, usually your "D:" drive.

Access the System Recovery partition from the Start-All Programs-System Recovery-System Recovery Menu. Following the prompts will allow you to reformat the computer and reinstall the operating system and all software as it came from the factory. From that point, if you don't want any of the factory junk, you'll need to uninstall it yourself.

If the Recovery partition is missing, (usually a D: drive) , then you'll need to have the original Recovery discs which were created when the computer was new.

If you simply want to wipe it, use a disk wiping tool. Many hard drive wipers, cleaners or shredders can be downloaded at no cost. Visit Downloads.com to search for these programs that are designed to wipe your hard drive. Once you have downloaded a disk wiping program, install it on your computer. Each program will have a unique graphical user interface (GUI) and directions for use. Follow the directions for your selected disk wiping tool and run the program to wipe your hard drive. The program will make sure that all files and data have been completely erased by overwriting the entries multiple times.

Hp harddrives

Install the undetected drive in an external enclosure and you should be able to use it as normal provided it has not crashed completely.
