Yes, that's pretty normal. You can make it lasting longer just by lowering brightness.

Charging problem

If it is not charging because the charging port is broken, you should go onto Ebay and buy a three dollar universal phone charger. It charges the battery outside of the phone, so a broken port can be ignored. Also, buy another battery so that you can rotate them out every 12 hours. This is the cheapest solution possible, costing under ten dollars to fix completely.

Dead phone

1)remove your phone's battery,
2)you will see three terminals over your battery
3)two of them will be (+) and (-),third is of no use to you
4)now take a nearly 5-volt charger or any power supply and connect its (+) and (-) terminals to the respective terminals of the battery for around 20 seconds..
5)now insert your battery in your phone.
it should work fine now.

Battery

Before you change the battery:
  1. Charge the battery fully
  2. Discharge the battery fully
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2
If the battery does not reset itself and start lasting longer then you do need to replace it.

Is the battery lithium -ion? If not, you have an older generation of battery.

Having mentioned that, some batteries need an introductory "conditioning period". Continue your excercise of charging and draining (dont drain too too low) and hopefully you will start seeing some decent longer lasting charges.

Hope that helps!

Battery charge is not lasting

If your connection to the Internet service is ON for long perods of time, not necessarily used, it will run the phone battery down. If your battery doesn't keep its charge its time to replace it. Use only the Sony Ericsson Battery recommended for your phone, not a similar battery.

Charging new phone

it wont harm your phone they just recomend 24 hours to make sure the bat is ok and that it gets fully charged but remember to let your bat go totally flat from time to time this will prolong the life of your battery as it does them no good just keep topping it up so i sugest to let it go totally flat say once a month this will keep your battery lasting longer between charge hope this helps
