You have a power supply issue on the main board of your set. This is not an easy fix for a home owner, Your best bet is to call a service shop and get a price quote. Tearing into tv's is very dangerous! High voltage is present even when unplugged! Good luck!

Last week the tv started having these vertical dashes all over the screen. Three days later, they went away for the whole day, having a perfect picture. The next day, the dashes were back, then went away...

Since it is not mentioned what the model number is of the set I can only guess that it is a DLP type. So if it is a DLP you have a light engine going bad. Check the model number and do a google search for price and availability. It is rather an extensive procedure to change the light engine, but most of them unplug and plug back up...just have to get all the plugs back properly. And the part is rather expensive as well.

Mitsubishi Projection TV model WS-65513

Good Day;
The continues blinking 99.9 % of the time is four caps on your DM board. The caps are C9B01,C9B02,C9B10 and C9B11 they use 1000UHF the upgrade caps are 680 UHF- 35V. The board is on the very left hand side (from back).
I have performed this repair at least 50 times and it takes me still about 1.5 hours. If you are not handy and do not have a solder station, I would recommend that you call a factory authorized service dealer to perform this repair. With service call and ect. it will cost you around $550.00 and the repair can be done in the home, of course prices varies across the country.
Good Luck, Day, Big Irish.

Sound but no picture on my HD-52725 (slightly over 1 yr old). The TV menu DOES come up but other than that, it's just a blank screen. I replaced the lamp about 3 weeks ago. It was working fine yesterday...

The new bulb that went bad I purchased for less than $130.00 from http://www.Discount-Merchant.com/ . When I called them they immediatly sent me a new bulb free. Their number is 1-619-710-2637. A very good coumpany to do business with. They are also considering selling ballast for dlp TV's for around $200.00. The TV repair place that I have been going to told me that maybe the ballast made the bulb go out and it would cost between $600.00 and 800.00 to have them fix it. My TV is a Mitsubishi WD52725. dodger1
