TV hit by Lightening, A wii was also in same receptacle, ruined it, also

This TV was hit by lightening. Turn it on and it does nothing. Is there any possibility it can be repaired? I checked the cord, it is OK. There was also a fuse I checked, it was OK. The on off switch was OK with an ohmeter. Do you have any idea of repairs and estimate?

TV's have motherboards just like computers. Most likely a small capciter was burned out. You can get a new motherboard for $300-$500 from the manufactuer.

We had lightening today and after one strike, my tv went off. It will come back on but only the sound. The standby light on the front of the tv is flashing and after about 10 seconds the tv shuts itself...

Tries tv unplug, replug it back like about an hour later. For the tv,to do a resetting itself. It is an auto detection mechanism to protected itself circuitries for not letting more power than it need for damaging itself. This disconnection and reconnection of the power source should be able to give ur tv a 50/50 chances to be working again. Not,must hire a tv tech. to for a trouble shooting and replace components parts, bcause the lightening have a source power to high of a voltages for the tv protection circuitries to handle.

I suggest checking on the AVS Forum (in specific threads for HP DLP TVs). If you cannot fix that TV for any reason, please let me know, since I am in need of other parts from the same TV. In that case, kindly contact me md5020n (at) garmonland (dot) com. Thanks!

We had a lightening storm and now the tv won't turn on

Possibly a spiked power supply,
If you have insurance you can claim if your covered for fusion. But i would refrain from mentioning lightening as its a religious coput to avoid paying out "Act of God" so lets sue him like Billy Connolly

Lightening struck nearby and the tv went out. Now

Obviously the tv took the hit but the dvd player was spared. check and replace the fuse in the tv if it's open. If this does not fix it then get an est and file a claim with you homeowners insurance.

Lightening blew out my 35" TV which is approx 11 years old. I replaced the fuse in the set and the power light clicks on when the set in plugged in. The on/off button does not work, it has to be...

The tube is probably fine, but the internal electronics are messed up. With a set that old, and the fact that it took a lightning hit, I wouldn't suggest spending anything on it. Take whatever insurance money you get and put it toward a new set. Most shops will tell you that lightning hits are not good investments as there are often hidden problems that appear over time.
