Delonghi DCU72 not working

Lent it to a friend for her daughter's wedding. I think it remained plugged in for awhile after it was empty. Now, when I plug it in, the light comes on, but the water does not heat.

    Without spare parts on hand, how do I check these?
    thermal fuse;
    heating element;
    doubtful if the thermostat is defective but may be worth checking.

    Also, where can I buy parts?

Taking it to the repair center is much advisable.because the power is coming on there is not a major fault in your unit.there are 3-4 doubts thermal fuse, heating element,thermostat,or it could be some thing gone short in the main circuit board .due to this it is not heating.if you your self do ..you should have this parts ready with yourself.this will cost you much more then getting it repaired .and that will also be with a garranty.so the option is with you.what you prefer doing.please rate the solution .thanks.

It is probably the thermal switch between hot wire and other parts of this coffee maker got damage because of that long time being plug in to a power outlet and its empty that might cause damage to this...

Hi,

The light coming on is significant, it tells us that power is getting inside. If all else appears normal and it is only the heating function that is not present, it may therefore be:

  • thermal fuse;
  • heating element;
  • doubtful if the thermostat is defective but may be worth checking.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

"This appliance has a polarized plug. One blade is wider than the other. To reduce the risk
of electrical shock this plug will fit in a polarized plug only one way. If the plug does not fit, contact a
qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way."

Hoefully these are similar to your model and will save you from purchasing.

Delonghi DCU72 Light goes on and unit does nothing

If the light is going on...the thermostat is bad. Usually, the replacement can be gotten at any appliance parts website. You'll need a 180 degree unit. What you'll need to find inside is a unit about 5/8 inch in diameter 15mm. This has two connectors on it. Depending on the wiring, you'll likely need a low temp closed unit.

Delonghi DCU72 refused to heat on 6th use.

I have the same problem.
Being an electrical engineer, I would like to debug the circuit card.
However, I would like to brew coffee also.
I disassembled the bottom of the coffee maker, and unscrewed
the bracket holding the circuit card.
I cut the input power and ground wires from the plug to the card, and detached its modular wire to the heating element.
I removed the card
(to take to lab for further debugging).
Then I bought some .25 inch modular tab connectors at the hardware store and attached one to the power wire formerly going to the circuit card. I attached this to the heating element.
I covered the spare ground wire with electric tape.
Now I have a coffee maker which brews coffee again (except that I must pull the plug to shut it off).
If I figure out what is wrong with the circuit card, I will update you.
