Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

GSS25L GE no water

Had a malfunction, fridge started spitting out water and ice w/o lever being depressed. Replaced micro switch, ice is now normal, but no water. Fridge is making ice but no water dispensed. Took line loose at bottom of the front door at disconnect and pressed lever--no water. Can water line freeze some place other than freezer door?

Water in the micro switch shorted it out causing the fridge to think the water/ice lever

was depressed. After water was shut off, switch apparently kept bumping water solenoid valve on and burned up the soleinoid. Thus ice dispenser worked ok, but no water. Simple to check voltage (110v) to solenoid and plenty of water supply, but no

water output from valve. Looks like this forum is a come on for free help that does not

exist. Posted several days ago and no help except to send an email saying I could

pay 10.00 or 15.00 for help. If this is a pay site then post it up front and don't waste

peoples time. I am only posting my cure in hopes it might help someone else!

Ge ziss48drss ice spitting out

Sounds like the buttons are sticking or the board has malfunctioned and sent power to all of the relays. I would look to replace the board or just find a way to disconnect it.

Water works but ice will not dispense

Check the top of the fridge. The hinge on the left where the door is there should be a wire harness on the top, but on this fridge it might be at the bottom. Inspect all the wires to see physical damage of sorts. Then if you can, tug on them while someone holds the dispenser. You might need a whole new door if it's not the Mainboard.

The water dispenser on my GE fridge, model bss25jsrss, doesn't work. There is water in the lines, and the lights in the front work, but when I try to get water or ice nothing comes out.

There is a simple switch behind the push lever which activates the water/ice dispenser circuit. Sometimes these switches are poorly engineered to the lever with an adhesive or plastic rod which will break away. This is the first place I would look for a culprit.

We have a Whirlpool refrigerator model ET1MTKXKQ07. We have recently had a problem with water pooling inside the refrigerator. We know that the drain line must be stopped up, because there isn't anything...

There is no drain line as the only water that goes into the refrigerator is the water that goes into the ice maker. The out side water only goes into a glass or spilled on the floor.

I suspect that your inlet water solonoid is not reseating properly after the ice maker signals it to close. It opens by an electro magnet and closes by spring pressure. You may have to have it replaced. The ice maker rotats and hits a micro switch that sends power to the solonoid that snaps it open and is held as long as the switch is depressed. when the cam on the rotating vane passes the micro switch lever, the switch goes back to normal taking the power off of the solonoid, and spring pressure snaps it back in the closed position. This cam is timed to just fill up your ice tray.

I've had a GE Profile side by side (model # GSS25SGPCSS) with in door water and ice dispenser for approx. 6 years. This week the in door water dispenser stopped working. I removed and replaced the filter...

I have the same fridge and the water line freezes up in the door on a regular basis. I have to use a hair dryer and slowly wait for it to melt. It takes about 30 minutes and then works fine for awhile. It has become quite a habit that I'm not thrilled about. Don't waste your money replacing the board or anything else. GE was no help and I'm now shopping for a new fridge bc of this issue. Needless to say that it won't be a GE! Hope this helps.

This is Gene's solution not mine, for a Ge fridge.
Assuming the ice dispenser works fine, the first thing I would check is the water filter, then the water inlet valve on the back of the fridge.

If the water filter is more than a year old it will cause restriction to the water flow.

Locate the water inlet valve on the back of the fridge. Remove the wires from the blue solenoid and check for 120V coming to the solenoid while the water dispenser lever is depressed.

If there is 120V then the water inlet valve has to be replaced.

Ice maker does not make ice and the in-door water is not working properly - it keeps running.

the water in the door problem after you fill up your cup with water it keeps running all over the floor.. it sounds like its a stuck contact on a micro switch inside the door compartment. that lever you are pushing your glass onto is atached to a little switch and if the contacts stay closed (like when a glass is pushing on it) the machine thinks "hey he still wants water". next time it does that try pushing on the spot you put the glass onto a couple of time to see if it stops the water. if so it most likely is the switch. to confirm that is the case you will have to open the plastic moulding from the fridge door to gain access to the switch.( always unplug any electricall device before openning to ensure your hair doesnt end up standing striaght up like a punk rocker) you will know which switch is the one you want to check by depressing the water lever on the front. Ohm check the switch for continuity to see if it gives you proper readings or it is in fact a bunk switch. it also could be a mechanical problem as the lever once unpressed is not opening the switch back up once the glass is removed but that is not as likely unless you are ramming the glass into the water dispensor
hope it helps

Ice maker constantly runs

You do not have the actuator postioned correctly on the switch inside the door. The lever has to press up against the switch when you push it. Re-postion the lever.
