I have a tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 , It is now having problems, It give a buzzing noise than when I take a photo it locks up and give me the dreaded err 01 message, I cleaned the contacts and also tried it with 2 other bodies and same thing. What I notice is it will work fine no problem at one end of the focal length than have problems if I move. Wierd thing is it will change which end of the focal length it works fine with. SO sometimes it will error up at any focal length other than 75mm and sometimes opposite etc. Any help with fixing it would be much appreciated.

Hi Based on your description I recommend clean the CPU contacts both on the camera and on the lens.Due to dirty contacts the D90 probably won't recognize them. Try it and see.You can clean them either lens tissue moisted lightly with Kodak lens cleaning solution or carefully with Some very light amount (just moisture it ) isopropyl alchohol on a Q-tip . Just make sure and not leave any tiny strands of cotton behind. Hope this helps! LOC means it thinks the control panel is locked. This gives the ERR indication when you push the buttons. To unlock it you need to hold down the Options and Select buttons together until it reacts.

I have had this very problem with 2 of these scanners (8920) and
finally figured out what happens is that the cheap chinese power supply
loses power over time and then finally gives out. Before it fully gives
out it doesn't have enough power to scan properly but will still turn
the scanner on. Symptoms range from terrible scans with noise to the
dreaded "scanner is locked" error. I got a new power supply from
radioshack - 12 VDC at 1.5A (1500 MA) and it works like brand new! Make
sure the power supply can deliver the full 1.5 A of the original! This
is very important.
Get another scanner. Check whether the lock has not been enabled at the bottom of the scanner. This has happened with me as well and a known Visioneer problem.
You're probably right about the lens. Tamron lenses have a flexible circuit that drives the aperture blades. The aperture might need to be cleaned or the flex might be worn out. Either case needs a repair shop to correct.
