Screen went dim. very faint immage still in in good light. i bought a screen on ebay, the seller said it worked, i hooked it up, it does not work same as my old screen. It might be the inverter but with out knowing if it is a flat screen or a reguler monitor i will not be able to tell you . you might have to take it to a computer place near you but for now my suggestion is to plug your old one back in for now intell you get the other on looked at

thanks

hope this works for you

Backlight Inverter Repalced still not working

dim the lights in the room, turn on the set, and shine a bright flash light on the screen. Do you see a faint picture? Also be advised that there are a lot of bad parts floating around on EBay. No backlight condition could be cause by a bad main board, power supply, inverter board, high voltage short on the inverter output, or a bad backlight bulb.

HDR-SR12 - LCD Touch screen very dim , screen works but almost completely dark. tried increased brightness etc no help

My camera's backlight went dark. Occasionally it would work if I pressed just the right way, but it was basically toast.

Search ebay for an HDR-SR11 or HDR-SR12 flex cable similar to this one:

http://r.ebay.com/L4dWDQ

It's not impossible to replace, but it's definitely not for the faint of heart. Some offer a replacement service with it. I'm doing mine myself. Results to follow, maybe, if I remember to post following the repair.

My camera's backlight went dark. Occasionally it would work if I pressed just the right way, but it was basically toast. With the right external light you could sort of make out what was on the screen by back reflection of what was on the LCD screen.

Search ebay for an HDR-SR11 or HDR-SR12 flex cable similar to this one:

It's not impossible to replace, but it's definitely not for the faint of heart. Some offer a replacement service with it. I did mine and it works excellently. An $8 cable and about an hour (plus a lot of pictures-as-you-go for reassembly) is all it takes.

My screen went dim and only the power button works

Most likely an insufficient ground is the culprit. Clarions are VERY dependent on a good ground. Check your connections - again...redo the ground if there's no change. If that doesn't work, take it to your local car stereo installer and ask them NICELY to diagnose the prob (probably free) if they do it FREE, buy the dude lunch $10
Good Luck

Compaq Evo N610C Faint Screen

Usually it's the inverter. Sometimes it's the backlight / lcd, and occasionally it's the lcd cable and or video card.

Easiest thing to do is order a replacement inverter from ebay. They're cheap and then swap it. You just need to remove the outside lcd bezel, it's just four or five screws and you're in business.
