Question about Panasonic NV-DS55B Mini DV Digital Camcorder

NV-DS55B panasonic digital video camera.

Mini dv tape will not load into camera. it goes part way then ejects after a few seconds. fault code F 05 showing in view finder. I have the same problem. When I switch on, I can only obtain camera mode, but when I try to insert a tape there is an unfamiliar whirring sound and the tape is ejected. F 05 is shown in the display.

I didn't mention that in spite of only being able to get camera mode, none of the functions such as menu or focus work other than the zoom lever.
I have also noticed that although the auto/manual switch is in the auto position, rotating the multi-purpose jog dial seems to vary the brightness/contrast of the image shown in the display
The camera switches off after about 1 min. of inactivity.

Unless you have worked on camera before and have the equipment to re-align the parts when you are done, please do not attempt this repair. This can be a simple repair to a servicer. In many cases, there is contamination in the head/drum assembly that can be cleaned up freeing the heads to rotate. Once that is complete, a re-alignment must be done.

Please bring this unit to an authorized Panasonic service center for repair.

F 05 fault code = Rotation of the video head has stalled or too fast
it would be better to take it to a repairman

Cylinder error (F05) usally caused by poor/oxidised contacts on cylinder drive fpc cable to pcb, sometimes caused by seized cylinder or drive.
The cylinder is the round thing that the tape wraps around that has the heads to record to tape, just in case you didn't know.

This is a mechanical problem already , you may need to dismantle the unit nd check for any misaligned parts...

    Good luck......

I cant eject my Panasonic NV-GS55 Mini DV Digital video cassette

Try ejecting cassette whilst powered from AC Adaptor. Secondly, try operating Eject from powered off mode. If operation LED starts flashing after any of these attempts, the mechanism is probably jammed or has become mis-timed. Unfortunately this requires professional intervention to avoid further damage to your equipment.
I hope this information is of assistance!

Exactly the same problem as everyone else. There's bound to be someone who can offer advice on what to do. The camera obviously recognises the fault as F05, but where can you reference the remedy to this F05 code? It's not in the manual as far as I can see
