Question about Sharp Microwave Ovens

I have a microwave drawer that is about 6 months old. The fan and light and timer work but the drawer will not heat. Model # KB-6025ms. Is there any thing I can try to solve the problem?

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

But if the oven light is getting power when you try to cook, but the oven won't heat, the next question is this: Does it sound louder or quieter than normal?

If quieter, I would suspect a relay or connection on the control panel.

If louder, I would suspect a shorted high voltage diode or a bad magnetron.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

  1. Check the power diodeThis electronic component is responsible for transmitting current in one direction. If the diode becomes defective it will cause your microwave to not heat. Test the diode and replace it if necessary.
  2. High voltage capacitorResponsible for storing electricity, this part is a key component in any microwave. Remove, discharge, and test the capacitor to determine if it requires replacement.
  3. Damaged magnetronResponsible for generating waves and producing heat. When your microwave is no longer heating properly, replacement will be required.
  4. Thermal CutoffsExamine the thermal cutoffs on both the magnetron and the oven itself. Take off one of the leads and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If you get a result other than zero, replace the thermal cutoffs.

Have a cookworks microwave model AM821AHT-X2, only 6 months old and just suddenly stopped working properly,not heating up,timer and lights are working but no heat at all.

My microwave oven isn't heating my food. Everything else works, the fan, the lights and the keypad. The microwave turns and sounds like everything is working but the food won't get hot. It is only 6 months...


Small component called a diode. Open up the microwave and try to find a black (usually) component that is most often connected between the magnetron (the thing that heats the food) and the chassis of the microwave oven (ground). I used to make a fortune replacing these! Costs about 5 bucks most appliance supply stores. Make darn sure you get one of the same value.

Microwaves are pretty much a non repair item. It will cost you more to fix than it would to replace.

IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS RANGING FROM DIODES TO CAPACITORS TO YOUR MAGNATRON OR THERMOSTAST OR TRANSFORMERS. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE WITHOUT SEEING THIS MICROWAVE. YOU MAY BE BETTER OFF GETTING YOURSELF A DIFFERENT ONE.

have a good look at front to see reset??.press it once it comes back on unplug from the wall and & open it up and go to the part and give it a good clean with wd40, check the push pad for ware & tare dirt gathers and builds up

Cookworks microwave not heating up


Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

If for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, I would suggest calling the dealer where you bought it to see if they have a number for Cookworks.

I'm confused. If it's 6 weeks old, you can get it repaired free.

If it's 1-1/2 years old, the manufacturer will cover the part cost of the magnetron (assuming that's what's wrong) and you will have to pay for labor and any other needed parts.

Also, the subject line mentions a model LMV1630ST while your message body mentions model LMV1680BB.
