Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player

1 Answer

Locked iPod Okay, our iPod was locked by my 4-year old son. It belongs to my older son, and we've had it for a couple years, so we don't exactly have the papers or anything anymore. We never set a lock code or anything, so I was wondering if there was a preset code or an override code or something so that we can get the iPod back to being used. We tried the whole reset thing, but that didn't work, it's still locked. Can anyone help us?

Use Itunes, and Restore to factory settings. this will remove any lock codes. It will also erase any files currently on the Ipod (Music or otherwise). Then just Resync with Itunes, and you should be back in buisness

Forgot ipod touch 4gen passcode

Hi medinazoe58
If you have forgotten the code or put the wrong code in your ipod, you can unlock the Ipod by doing the following:
Connect your IPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one Ipod synced with), and open iTunes.
When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock Ipod using either (the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs). . . you can restore your ipod to factory settings using ipod Updater.
Please note that this will erase all data on your ipod.
Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your ipod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your Ipod is associated with, do this:
1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone.
All of your songs and files will be deleted.
Always make a backup of your important data.
2. Connect your ipod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
3. Open iTunes and synchronize.
If you can't unlock your ipod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the Ipod, which will erase all music and data.
Please take time to rate me

Ipod instructions to unlock

Try to reboot it by pressing the center button and menu at the same time for about 6 seconds. If that doesn't work, try resetting it to factory defaults using iTunes.

My 3 year old son was playing with my ipod last night. this morning, I noticed being locked. Any advise on how to unlock will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Miguel

This should be an easy fix. follow these steps:

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Hope this helps :o)

I purchased a used itouch ipod 8gb and it is locked

Hold down the power and home keys down for about 10 seconds each while plugged into itunes. When the screen goes black, release the power button but keep holding the home key until itunes says. We have detected an itouch in recovery mode.

From there you can restore as normal via iTunes.
