Ipaq rx3715 won't reset.

I have an ipaq rx3715. I have done a hard and soft reset and it only goes to the HP screen. I've taken the battery out for 24 hrs. and also removed the SD card. It still won't takeme to my Ipaq homepage.

    Hi Bogdan,

Active sync did not recognize my Ipaq 3715. Nothing came up. The only time I see anything on my ppc is when I have the power cord plugged in and then I see the HP Ipaq Mobile Media Homepage. I tried to download mtty.exe and it keeps showing "com port 2" but when I click yes to download it to com port 2 it doesn't do it. Could you give me some instructions on how to load mtty. I've done some searching on the web but haven't found how to do this and I have no clue. Again, I want to thank you for your time trying to help me. It's very much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Mike

    Hello,

    Please try the following:

Charge the ipaq for 2-3 hours then connect it to an usb cable to your computer. Check to see if active sync does recognise it. If it does a rom update would solve the problem. If it doesn't you'll need to get a small program called mtty and run some bootloader commands. Then the device will accept a new rom software install.

Please let me know how your device behaves when connected to active sync and I'll explain the next steps.

The description you are providing indicates the PDA has problems in uploading the booting firmware to the memory.

Unfortunately, this means that it needs a professional technician to open and perform a diagnostics on it to fix it.

It may be a defective integrated circuit, or moisture or humidity that got inside de PDA.

Some times is possible to fix it with minor internal cleaning or with minor replacement of electronic parts, but other times is possible to fix it only with the replacement of the main board.

Bottom line, you need to have a quote for diagnostics and repair of it, and make the decision if is better for you to repair it or buy another one.

Best regards,

The PC is not switching on

Hi. I assume that you plugged in your original battery after it was out a while. When your device's battery is drained, all the data in your device may be resetted (changes according to your backup battery's condition). So you should first try to plug it into AC power source for a couple of hours without touching it (Let the battery become usable enough). Then, your device should open without any error, but it may take a while because it will install the Operating System from ROM. In most cases, pluging out your battery won't destroy any internal parts of your device, it may just reset it to factory default settings. If there is an error, here is how you can hard reset your device:
HP iPAQ rx3715 Hard Reset:
1. Hold down the Mobile Media button (on the far left) and the iTask button.
2. Then press down the reset button with the styles for a few seconds until the screen goes dark.

3. To turn on your HP iPAQ after your hard reset, either press the reset button again, or plug it into an AC power source.
Hope this helps.

How to Perform a Hard Reset on an HP iPAQ

Performing a hard reset on an HP iPAQ is relatively easy, but is a dramatic step in the management of your handheld organizer. A hard reset will completely clear the memory of your device and restore it to the state you received it in from the factory. A soft reset, on the other hand, simply closes running programs and restarts your pocket PC.

Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Read the owner’s manual. If you don’t have to do a hard reset, you shouldn’t, and you definitely don’t want to do one by accident. So familiarize yourself with the hard reset protocol offered in the manual.
Step2
Make sure you want to clear all personal settings, saved data and personal files from your PDA. If there are files you wish to retain, save them to a removable disk, or send them to your computer’s hard drive to be retrieved at a later date before performing a hard reset.
Step3
For the HP iPAQ h1900 series, hold down the power button while you use your stylus to hold down the reset button (on the left side of the iPAQ). Hold these buttons for a few seconds until the screen fades to black.
Step4
For the HP iPAQ h2000 Series, press down on the far left and right buttons (calendar and iTask, respectively). While you do this, press and hold the reset button on the back of the iPAQ until the screen fades.
Step5
For the HP iPAQ h5000 Series and H3800 Series, the procedure is the same as the h2000 Series with the only difference being on some models the Today button is used instead of the iTask button.
Step6
For the hw6500 Mobile Messenger Series and hx2000 Series the procedure for the hard reset is precisely the same as for the devices in step 4.
Step7
For the rx3115 and rx3715 models, hold down the Mobile Media button (on the far left) and the iTask button. Then press down the reset button with the styles for a few seconds until the screen goes dark.
Step8
For the rz1710 and rz1715, follow the same procedure as the devices in step 7, with the difference of pressing the Today button (on the far right) instead of the iTask button.
Step9
To turn on your HP iPAQ after your hard reset, either press the reset button again, or plug it into an AC power source.

Tips & Warnings

* If you’re iPAQ is simply slowing down or having problems, try a soft reset (reboot) before resorting to a hard reset.
* Read your iPAQ’s instruction manual to familiarize yourself with how to do a hard reset, and the effects of performing one.
* Do not perform a hard reset unless you are okay with or intend to erase all non-factory installed data and settings from your HP iPAQ.

Hopefully you can do a warranty repair, I'm pretty sure the main board is damaged since a hard reset should have taken you back to the factory defaults.

Lying ipaq H5550!

It's a problem with either the memory board or the button board. With my h5550, the bottom buttons started to stop working and eventualy the PPC stoped charging all together. You can find parts for it online. If all the buttons are working fine, then it's most likely the motherboard. Otherwise it should be the button board.
