My psu will not stop beeping. I have an enermax EIN 720 AWT

Are you checking the voltage outputs of the PSU with it connected to a motherboard or standalone? Most designs will not power up if there is excessive load (as in a short/high current), however, there are also designs that will not power up if there is no load.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Just buy a new power supply. If you touch the wrong thing inside that psu you will die. Seriously.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause you problems

computers need all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

Your computer either has a fault with the power button in which you can request off the manufacturer a replacement (may cost money depends on warranty) or you do not have enough power for the computer components. Try removing all the peripherals except from screen, keyboard and mouse and then try booting. If it works then you dont have a large enough power supply for all the equipment you have. If it still does not work then it could still be a power supply (PSU) fault in which you can take the psu to your local computer store and they can test it for you.

99% TIME IT IS A FAULTY FAN GOING OUT.

REPLACING THE FAN INSIDE THE POWER SUPPLY WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.

P/S ARE CHEAP, JUST BUY A NEW ONE OOR REPLACE WITH ONE YOU HAVE ON HAND

the 9600GSO uses arounf 250 watts under load. While I cannot fing exact spec for the HP PSU I would be surprised if it were more that 350W. Is there any indication on the case or can you open the case up and look at the PSU?

You need somthing in the order of 450W or greater. Get an Enermax, Corsair or other good quality PSU.
