sorry I haven't responded sooner. I just tried using the ff and rev on the remote and it does not respond. Any other suggestions? Again, I'm sorry for the delay.

The remote works just fine for the normal operations - stop, play, fast-forward, rewind, next scene, volume. I thought you were wondering if it worked for tracking control. I'm going to check to see if my local Walmart will replace it. Thanx for that tip.

Sounds like the remote control isn't working.  Getting support for Durabrand portable DVD players is impossible.  The company that manufactured them for Wal Mart went out of business last November.  I've heard that Wal Mart is replacing them with a unit of equal or lesser value.
There's a blog on Rip Off Report.com about it.

Tape playback on Magnavox MWR20V6

When was the last time you ran the "head cleaning" tape in the machine? As tape collects dust and dirt - it gets deposited on the recording and playback heads. This ruins playback and recording quality. Also, since tape is magnetic - they tend to magnetize the heads, too (just like reel to reel, 8 track & cassette player / recorders). Demagnetizing them will help too. Here are links to both products:

The flying head is dirty. Open the unit and clean it with isopropylic alcohol or similar with a smooth cloth like the same used to glass clean.

I have a Sylvania SRD3900 DVD Player / VCR Combo that I purchased about 6 years ago. The VCR part is causing problems. When I try to play movies the picture is distorted with no sound, but it plays back...

The tracking needs to be adjusted. Sometimes it's a knob on the VCR, and sometimes it's a control on the remote. Adjust it for the best picture, and the sound shoud be restored.
Good luck, and hope this helps..

Dvd player has stopped playing dvds

Hello, I'm here to try and help you with your DVD player, it sounds like to me the laser is either out of adjustment, or even gone bad, try playing a music cd first, if the cd loads and plays then your laser is out of adjustment or going bad. There isn't a whole lot you can do with it if this is the case. Some manufactors have a certain group or sequeince of buttons you can push to reset the player. Try looking in the owners manual or calling the manufactor for reset directons, if there is none than, it's time to go buy another DVD player. Thanks for contacting us and hope you have a pleasent day.

No picture, only sounds when playing DVD

Hi,

The issue might be that you could be missing some codes to play the dvds.

First i want to uninstall all the codecs from the control panel - add/remove programs.

Then download the latest vesion of klite codec pack with the player.

The link is :

http://ftp.freenet.de/pub/filepilot/windows/multimedia/video/k-lite_codec_pack/klcodec390f.exe

Install this by selecting "lots of stuff" with the player.

Then play your DVD, it will work fine.

Good Luck.

No sound playing DVDs

Is it connected to 5.1 amp??.The first thing to try is to go to set up menu and change the audio o/p to pcm track.See if this works. What has more than likely happened is unit is set to dolby digital and should be on pcm track instead. If this doesnt work more than likely fault in unit but have seen very few audio problems with dvds.
