Boards are built with some or many spots left open because the same board is used on different models with different features.
That may be one of those and is unused for your model. The part on the board is the socket and the plug is on the wire bundle or ribbon cable. If you actually have something that should go there, you can skip the plug and socket and solder the wires direct (watch for polarity).
