HI,
Please check the following:

  • Check that the power is on and that you have the power adaptor correctly plugged into a known working mains socket and also to the telephone base unit.
  • Check that you have the answering machine turned on to receive messages. There will be an indicator when it is turned on. Depending on the model this will be an icon in the handset display or an indicator on the base. Your user guide will provide the actual details for your product.
  • ou can also adjust the number of rings on your answering machine between 2, 4, 6 and 8 rings. Please consult the user guide for your product.
  • If you have a fax machine connected to the same line as your answering machine you may need to change the answer delay settings to ensure the answering machine takes the call before fax machine. Consult the fax machine user guide to see how to adjust the answer delay settings Your can also adjust the number of rings on your answering machine between 2, 4, 6 and 8 rings. Please consult the user guide.
  • Your answer machine may be set to Answer Only. This option does not allow a caller to leave a message. Please consult the user guide on how to change the setting to Answer & Record.
  • Check the volume setting of the playback message. If you have it set too low you may not hear any messages that have been recorded.
Thank You

Hello,

Here is a link to the manual for your reference.

http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/Siemens/Gigaset%208825%20Manual.pdf

According to the manual the information about the answering system starts on page 53. It looks like you need to start the feature "Auto Attendant" which is explained on page 57.

Please remember to rate your solution.

Thanks

Sorry I made a mistake. My phone is V-Tech IA5864 2 phone answering system. It no longer is accepting messages. It leaves this message. We're sorry messages to this number cannot be accepted.

Hello Genevieve, What you need to do is re-program the phone answering system. To do this you would need the set up instructions which can be found in the user manual. Answering machine instructions can be found on on page 26. Reset the system by cutting off the power to the unit and then take out the battery for about 5 mins. Upon putting it back setup the answering machine from scratch. Do let me know if this has been helpful?
Thank you for visiting FixYa.
