Question about Sony KDS-50A2000 50" HDTV

1 Answer

Color issue My Sony 50" HDTV has a color issue. There is a green tint on everything that should show grey or black. I've tried to adjust but no go. Even when I reset to factory default there is no change. How can I fix this? Martin

How long have you had your TV? Did you have the technician come out and do the dsolor adjustment that is recommended after about 250 hours?

Screen is green

Sony TVs has an Optical Block issue. If there is an issue with the optical block, then there will be green, blue patches or tint on the TV display. Try resetting the TV to the factory settings and try Power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue still persists, then TV may require service. You can contact the Customer relations team and check for the available options. Sony had repaired free of cost for such issues. Hence, contact the customer relations.

Please adjust TINT control of Video Settings in Menu that will adjust color tone of TV. I do not think this problem is related with Lamp because TV screen does not have any color blobs or spots.
Above solution is for Sony KDF-55WF655 model TV, if your model number is different, let me know.
Thanks.

KDS-R50XBR1 50 in. HDTV Television: I can't get rid of the GREEN

Its another instance of the optical block (light engine) failure these TVs are known for. Heat from the lamp has damaged the LCD panels in the light engine. Sony has been directed by the attorney general's office in New York to warranty these TVs going back 4 model years. Call Sony at: 1-800-222-SONY for assistance.

Red color is missing - everything is green

You will need the optical block replaced. Approximately $1000 or so plus around $400 labor and taxes. Visit Sony's website to see if they are still honoring the extended warranty for the optical block issue. They know it as a green tint complaint. The menus will also be affected if you have the problem.

If the issue is no longer covered, try negotiating a shared cost repair.
