Computer wanted to to backup files. I received a message, "The back-up did not complete successfully". "An error occurred. The following information might help you resolve the error" Catastrophic failure)0X8000FFFF) Can you guide my simple mind through this situation??? Barry

This type of error normally happens when you try to create a restore point. May I ask if you are using Windows Vista?

If so

Start, right click Computer, Manage; select Service. Services and Applications, Volume Shadow Service, and set the service to "Automatic"
After that run CHKDSK on your drives. This will solve the problem with your computer backup.

If the computer is asking you to back up files, this is the S.M.A.R.T software that the bios uses to check the health of your hard drive, informing you that the drive is about to fail, if you cannot back up through means of dvd of dongle you will lose your docs as the drive will fail, you will have to replace the hard drive i'm afraid

If you are trying to backup the whole of C: check and see how much data is used, I think you will be very surprised at just how much data there is there already.

As a test backup a small folder and see if that works, if it does it proves the small recovery partition does not have enough space for you are are trying to back up.

Dear,
I saw your video and check the blue screen error. It comes for a friction of second and disappears but i kept my media player in slow motion mode and checked it. This error belongs to a missing registry file.
PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE for recovery.

A Stop 0xc0000218 error message means that a necessary registry hive file could not be loaded. This error message can occur if the file is corrupt or missing. To resolve this issue, you can reinstall the operating system and restore the registry files from a backup. The registry files may have been corrupted because of hard disk corruption or some other hardware problem.

This error message can also occur if the driver has corrupted the registry data while loading into memory, or the memory where the registry is loading has a parity error. In the latter case, turn off the external cache and check the memory chips.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Start your computer by running the Recovery Console, run the chkdsk /p command on the drive, and then restart your computer. Test to determine whether the issue is resolved. If the issue is resolved, do not complete the remaining steps. If the issue is not resolved, go to step 2.
  2. When Windows loads, press SPACE BAR when the "Load Last Known Good" message appears.
  3. Complete a parallel installation, and restore the registry files from a tape backup. To do so:
    • Reinstall Windows in a separate folder.
    • Restore the damaged registry hive from backup. This procedure is specific to the backup application that you used to make a backup. Consult the documentation of your backup application or consult the vendor if you need assistance. Typically, this procedure requires you to restore a system state backup to an alternate location, and then copy the appropriate registry files to the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\config folder of the damaged operating system.
    • If you do not have a tape backup, include the backup of network servers and production workstations.
    NOTE: If Windows is stored on a FAT partition, you can restore the files by using another computer and by copying the registry hive files to the %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\Config subfolder.

To perform a clean install of the BlackBerry Device Software, perform the following steps:

Ok, you may lose your data, but try this first to see if you can load the opertaing system without losing your data.

See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.

First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.

Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.

1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

When i turn my mp3 on , it says " File System Error " , But when i connect it to my computer it'll show that it's charging . How can i fix this ??!!!!!!


This error occurs sometimes with the player. Please format your player via your computer so as to solve it.

IMPORTANT:
Formatting will erase all data on this player. Make sure you have backup all data on this player before execute the formatting.
  1. Connect your player to your computer.
  2. Double click My Computer at the desktop on your computer. You will find an icon for your player.
  3. Right click your mouse to select Format... in the popup menu.
    • If you can not find the Format... option after you right click the icon, please double click the icon, you will find another icon named Internal Storage, right click this icon to select Format.... You may get a warning message, click the OK button to start the formatting.
  4. Click the Start button. The formatting will auto start. You will get a message Format complete when the formatting is finished.
  5. Transfer again your backup data as you did to the player.
Please revert for any further issue.

Use the disk utitlity to repair the disk, when your husband unplugged it while it was attempting a backup, it corrupted part of the disk the disk utility will fix it for you and correct the errors

I am getting error codes 6129,0 and 6073, 816 on my quickbooks 2008. What can I do to open the company?


This error can occur when:
  • Data is converted or restored over a network.
  • Several computers are acting as host for the QuickBooks data file.
  • QuickBooks is unable to communicate with the server.
  • There is data damage in your company file.

If the error occurred when you were restoring a company file from a backup or updating a company file to a newer version of QuickBooks over a network:
  1. Copy the backup file (.qbb file extension) or the company file you want to update (.qbw file extension) to a local hard drive.
  2. Restore the backup or update the company file.
  3. Copy the restored or updated company file back to its original location.

If the error occurred when you were trying to open and use a company file:
  1. Update QuickBooks to the most current release on all computers that open the company file.
  2. Close QuickBooks on all the computers with access to this company file.
  3. On the computer you select to host the company file, switch to single-user mode, and then back to multi-user mode:
    1. Open QuickBooks and open the company file.
    2. Choose File > Switch to Single-user Mode.
    3. Choose File > Utilities > Stop Hosting Multi-User Access.
    4. Choose File > Switch to Multi-user Mode.
    5. Choose File > Close Company to close the company file.
  4. On all other computers that will use the company file, stop hosting multi-user access :
    1. Press and hold Ctrl while you open the QuickBooks program and continue pressing Ctrl until QuickBooks opens completely. This opens QuickBooks without opening a company file.
    2. Choose File > Utilities >Stop Hosting Multi-User Access. If that option doesn't appear, the computer is not hosting and no further action is necessary.

    3. Click the Add Folder button, select the folder that contains your QuickBooks company file, and click OK. Repeat this step if necessary to add additional company file folders.
    4. Click the Scan button to begin scanning. After the scan is finished, the company files in the scanned folders are configured for multi-user access.
  6. Open the company file in QuickBooks. If you receive the same error message, refer to Settings required for firewalls to make sure your firewall is properly configured to allow QuickBooks access to your company file.
  7. Open the company file in QuickBooks. If you receive the same error message, open a different company file or a sample company file located in one of the folders you scanned with the Database Server Manager.
    • If no company file will open, reboot the host computer and try again.
    • If other company files open without error, the company file generating the error message may be damaged. For more information refer to Verifying and rebuilding QuickBooks company data.

On your device you may have a corrupt file that is causing the issues that you are experiencing. The solution to this is to completely remove the software from your device and reinstall it again as described in the steps below. Please ensure that you have the latest TomTom Home software installed on your computer:-

You can download and install the latest version of TomTom HOME from the following link:

Once you have the latest version of TomTom Home installed, please follow these steps:-

STEP 1. Creating a Manual backup of your TomTom

• Charge your unit for at least two hours (preferably via the home charger)
• Perform a reset on your device (see: http://www.tomtom.com/6965 )

If you have not made a backup yet you can do so by making a manual backup of your TomTom. To do this, please look at the following web page:-

• Connect your TomTom to the computer
• Open My Computer, you should see the TomTom as a removable drive, double click into it. (on a mac you will see the TomTom as a disk drive on your desktop)
• You will see a list of files and folders.
• Copy all of the folders on the TomTom, one by one to the backup folder.
• This can take up to 1 hour to complete depending on the device.
• If you get any error messages while copying, move on to the next folder and copy that to the backup folder.
• If possible, please make a note of any error message that occur while copying the folders, and make a note of which folder causes the error message.

IMPORTANT: We advise you to follow the next steps ONLY if you have made a successful backup of your device as described in step 1. If you are unable to complete step 1, please reply back with a list of yellow folders that you have managed to successfully copy to your PC and also reply back with any error messages that you receive at this point.

STEP 2. Format the hard-disk,

• Open 'My Computer'
• Right click on the TomTom icon (the device should be seen in drive E,F,G,H,I etc) and select 'Format'.
• Do a full format by selecting FAT 32 and click on Start, do not select 'quick format'. The TomTom is now formatted.
• Disconnect the TomTom from the computer and switch it on. It will load up with a red cross on the screen.
• Reset the TomTom with a paperclip in the reset hole for 30 seconds, see http://www.tomtom.com/6965 in how to do this.
• Once Reset, switch the TomTom off, disconnect it from the computer and then switch it back on again, it will still show a red cross on the screen.

STEP 3. Restore the Folders to the TomTom

• Connect your TomTom back to the computer and make sure it is switched on
• Go to your backup folder on your desktop, double left click into it. You will see all of your backup folders.
• Copy the folders one by one to the TomTom by right clicking on the folder, select copy then open My Computer, double left click onto the TomTom drive and choose paste.
• Turn the device off (with the on/off switch) and disconnect it from the computer.
• Switch the TomTom back on.

STEP 4. Update your device

• Open TomTom Home
• Connect your device to the PC
• A list of updates should appear, if not, click on Update my Go
• Select only the program application update.
• Click on Update and Install.
• Once Installed, open TomTom Home
• Click on 'Device -> Disconnect Device'.
• Turn the device off (with the on/off switch) and disconnect it from the computer.
• Switch your TomTom On to complete the installation.

The Application is now installed, and your TomTom should now be working.

STEP 5. Run the Clear Flash Tool

• Connect your TomTom to the computer
• Close TomTom Home. (on a PC, make sure you close TomTom Home from the system tray in the bottom right hand corner of your screen by the computer clock)
• Download and run the clear flash tool from : http://www.tomtom.com/updates/clear_flash/clear_flash.exe Make sure your TomTom is connected to the computer and switched on when you do this.

• Once Installed, open TomTom Home
• Click on 'Device -> Disconnect Device'.
• Turn the device off (with the on/off switch) and disconnect it from the computer.
• Switch your TomTom On to complete the installation.

The Application is now installed, and your TomTom should now be working.

* IMPORTANT *
If you have any issues with copying the contents of the TomTom to your PC and back again, please let us know and state what error messages, if any, that there are.
Please reply back with the details of what happens.

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true: • You back up data from a volume that contains a Microsoft SQL Server database. • The recovery model of the SQL Server database is configured to use an option that is different from Simple.
