The flame sensor can still be faulty, replacing that is the cheapest. Other issues could be a faulty control board (if available), a faulty gas valve, thermostat lossing call, or a safety/pressure switch problem. There are alot of variables and it really helps to have a meter to check voltage and continuity through-out the system.

1st thing I would check would be the chimney. Take a match and light it, stick it near
the draft hood of the water heater, be carefull it might be hot. If the match gets blown
out, then you have a backdraft problem. Because it does not happen all the time, perhapsit only does it when you have a strong wind.

Turn off the gass and break the union apart, turn on the gas for a little bit to bleed the
air out of the line. Turn the control on water heater to pilot or lowest setting. Follow
the lighting instructions, if it still does not light then my guess would be the gas valve.

No hot water or heating

Hi,
In most cases problems with the circulator pump boil down to two problems.
The most common is air in the lines causing an air lock.
The next problem is that the pump gets stuck and is not running even though itmay be hot and seem to be running. In this cause the pump can sometimes betaken apart, cleaned and it will work, but usually it needs to be replaced.

Here is a tip that I wrote that will explain circulator pump problems in moredetail.

I turned on hot water to take a bath, and it was hot. by the time the tub had filled the water was freezing. now we cant seem to get hot water out of anywhere. the pilot light is on. the knob is set to on,...

if I was a betting may I would say that this is a small water heater, what is the temperature set on, as the pilot light will be lit once the temperature is reached, but until then the burners will be lit. I would move the temperature knob and listen to see if I hear the burners kick on. Hope this helps Tim

Does the boiler thermostat control the heat of the radiators as well as the hot water temperature? Does the thermostat control the water temperature and the pump - as our pump seems to be on all the...

There should be a control called an aquastat that regulates the temperature of the boiler. The thermostat will turn on the circulator to start the flow of water through the radiators. If the water coming back from the radiators is very cold, a control will shut off the circulator until the boiler can come up to a predetermined temperature then start the flow of water again. If you have a tankless coil for domestic hot water, you now have a triple aquastat that maintains the temperature for domestic as well as the boiler temp. So yes the boiler thermostat (aquastat) does control the heat of the radiators and domestic hot water. No the pump is regulated by your house thermostat. You should take an amp draw on the boiler and componants to find out what is drawing more electricity than it should and popping your fuse.

Worcester 24i junior boiler about 5 years old making banging noise and losing pressure thro overflow can you help.

its getting to hot /either your water level is low in the system /the circulating pump coupler could be broken; so water may not be circulating through the pipes, this will cause relief valve to blow ..air may be in the lines also/let me know if you need more info/good luck/joe/
what does the pressure guage read it should be reading 12lbs at the lowest an 30 at the highest/the relief valve will blow at 32 lbs this depends on how many floors or levels you have ..

How to light a American Standard furnace

If it is an old furnace with a manual pilot light there are pilot lighting instructions usually on a door or panel. If it is 15 years old or newer it probably has either a spark ignition or a hot surface ignitor. These can't be lit manually. If they fail they usually require parts to be repaired.
