Check the Main Electrical Panel for your house or apartment. There will be a breaker or fuse in there for your Oven. If it's a new Electrical Panel it will have the Breakers, so reset them. If it's an older Electrical Panel it will have Fuses, replace them. Depending on the Building codes in your area it should be Two---30 amp fuses.

The heating element on the top part off oven might be bad or a fuse that's located on back of oven either on or behind back panel.

switch as probably burt out so that the connecors inside dont touch anymore, or your supply fuses for the stove have blown, check your fuse box. but at any rate if there are sparks i would replace stove or get in a qualifed person the check your stove.

Its a Kenmore freestanding electric range. The model number in the drawer says 790.95658000 I bought this condo 2 yrs ago & it was already here - looks new (unused) but I imagine its an older model. ...

There may be fuse in this unit check them as well. Most electric ranges have fuses.

Removed dial knobs, put back on oven doesn't work

possibilities are that the spindle retaining clip is missing giving the impression that the oven thermostat is being turned when infact it i s slipping, or the oven is in auto mode if timer model.

Oven stopped working while cooking a meal

it sounds like it burnt one of your main wires in the back of range. by turning a knob on you are getting a feed back. turn the power off remove back panel take a visual check of your wiring.
