How do i rest factory default on my router - Computers & Internet

What Brand Router do you have? If you want to reset to factory defaults, behind the router will be a small button a reset button, Push and hold that button for at least 5-10 seconds then let got this will reset the router back to factory defaults... and under the router must be a sticker where the Routers IP address should be indicated to access the GUI/Settings page.

Make sure that by trying to access the routers GUI or setting page that your are connected using Ethernet to be able to access the Routers GUI.

Once in the GUI settings Page check if the wireless radio is turned on to be able to access the router wireless to get connected to the internet.

Typically on the back of the router will be a button or small pin sized hole labelled "reset". Press and hold for 10 seconds and this will reset ALL settings on the router to factory defaults.

Try resting again. Download firmware and see if it will flash the router from a computer.

Your router should be set to its factory defaults by either pressing and holding the reset button (at the right of the LAN ports) for 5 seconds, or firing up its browser-based utility (defaults: http://192.168.1.1, username left empty, and 'admin' as password) and going to 'Administration > Factory Defaults'.

Resetting to Factory Defaults
Hardware reset: Push the reset button on the back of the router for 15 seconds.

Software reset:

1. Type 192.168.1.1 in a Web browser.
2. Click on Backup Settings.
3. In the Revert to Factory Default Settings click Erase. IMPORTANT! Do not try to go online, turn off the Router, shutdown the computer or do anything else to the Router until the Router finishes restarting! When the Test light (looks like a check mark) stops blinking, wait a few more seconds before doing anything with the Router.

Press the rest button at the rear, in a small hole, press and hold for a bit, say 10secs, and Now your Router should be factory fresh, if this doesn't work, then sorry router is kaput, this is a common thing.

You can press the reset button on the DIR-635 which will reset the device back to it's factory defaults. Then connect using the factory default user id and password. (ID: Admin password is blank)

You have to reset the router to factory default if you lost your password. It will rest it to the factory default username and password. To do that at the back of the router there is a small hole that says reset. stick some thhing small there and hold it in for 10 seconds. It will reset your router. Then to access your router just type admin for the username and leave the password blank.

If you forgot what it was set to, easiest way is to do factory reset. (push and hold reset button for 30 Sec)
And then setup like a new router all is set back to defaults.
Default password is blank
default ip is 192.168.2.1 (I believe)

I know exactly what has happened
u did not knew the password for router manager
u reset it
After reset router , it came back to its factory defaults, now the password will come back to its factory defaults ( if u still dont know the factory defaults password, check manual provided to u with this router )
After reseting , as router came back to factory defaults , it also changed the wireless encryption key or WPA password with which u were able to connect earlier to its factory defaults original key and due to that reason u are getting limited or no connectivity coz the WEP or WPA key has changed.
Solution: IF U know the original wireless key or WPA key try to reenter it and see whether it connects or not
if still does not work

Then connect ur PC or laptop with ethernet or LAN CABLE (CAT)
Your internet will start working with the cable
NOW u will be able to open the router manager page
Type the factory defaults password and log in
Then goto the wireless settings page and check what is the WEP key stored in ur router and also try to channels of the router and see wherher it increases the signal strength or not
Once you have got the key from the router manager page
Try to reenter it and then surely it will work.........
