Can't get rid of subtitles

I can't get the subtitles to turn off. I have tried the button on the remote and I tried in the custom set-up, but found nothing to turn them off. I have also tried on the menu of the actual dvd, but it's not that either. It's driving me crazy.

Often the subtitles are a function of the TV. Check the menus on the TV and turn them off there. Sometimes merely muting and un-muting the TV is all it takes. Other times, you have to go into the settings.

Check your television settings and make sure closed captioning is turned off.

What button gets rid of subtitles that have just appeared on my tv. I must have pressed a button to start them but i dont know which one?

You are referring to closed captioning (CC) which is enabled/disabled by a button on the remote or by selection/cancellation during initial set up.

How to turn off sub titles using urc7110 remote

You probably have closed captioning (not subtitles) enabled. Closed captioning is enabled/disabled as part of initial set up.

We believe you have the Closed Caption decoder in your TV enabled. Please turn off the CC feature in the TV.

I have tried 2 different movies and still the same result.

I lost the remote to my player, how can i remove the subtitles from the player manually?

Hi,

Good day, usually for dvd subtitle the only option for you to get rid of the subtitle is using the remote control. But you can check the dvd player itself if it has a menu button which will allow you to access the subtitle but when i check it i didn't see any button. So i suggest for you to just purchase another remote if you really want to have the subtitles disable. Hope this information help you a bit. Have a great day.

Subtitles always on

Hi - welcome to FixYa,

There are 2 methods for changing the subtitle settings on your DVD player.

Method 1.
To turn off the subtitles on your DVD player during playback:

1. Press the "SUBTITLE" button on your remote control
The subtitle button is just below the "0" (zero) numerical key on the remote control. It is marked "SUBTITLE" above the button and the button has "ABC" written inside a white rectangle on it.
2. Use the left "<" and right ">" arrow keys to change the subtitle setting
Each time you press an arrow key the subtitle language will change and eventually the language will read "OFF". The subtitles are now switched off during playback.

Method 2.
To turn disc subtitles off from the main menu:

1. Press the "MENU/LIST" button on your remote control (directly below "STOP")
The main menu will now appear
2. Press the down arrow key on your remote once to highlight "A" in the left hand column of the main menu
3. Press the right arrow key on your remote once to move to the right-hand column of the menu
4. Press the down arrow twice to highlight "Disc Subtitle"
5. Use the left and right arrow keys to change the subtitle options until your required choice is displayed
6. Once set, press the "MENU/LIST" button again to exit the menu.

This should solve your problem, but if you need any further assistance, please post back.

Regards,
BElectric

Can't turn subtitles off

I want to thank whomever suggested the following...it works. I had been trying for days. Here is the solution:
Turn off the cable box and hit the menu button on the universal remote. The screen with the closed caption selection appears. Scroll down to the line regarding subtitles and turn it off.
