My wash machine wont agitate or spin. i have a whirlpool top loader and it is around 15 years old.. it is in great shape. It turns on fills with water and then goes silent. The timer works. It seams there...

If you're getting no motor noise, the most common cause is a bad lid switch. If the lid switch is good, I would suspect the timer. Here's a video that may help you access the parts.

Kenmore washer

Top loader? The basket at rest is slightly to the rear. Slow spin speed could be the brake hanging up or a worn clutch. If these are ok the spin tube bearings may be tightening up. Eric

Top loader series 80 Kenmore doesn't stop after the whole wash cycle, it goes directly to 2nd rinse, then spins again and stops?

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Since it does everything else, the problem points to the timer.

See the following Whirlpool / Kenmore installation and service manual for top load, direct drive washers with an extensive troubleshooting section.

Kenmore 80's series top loader only works on wash and rinse cycle

This is a problem with the pump being stuck so the motor cant turn the whole thing. Turn the washer on its side, underneath you can acces the pump, which is connected to the motor by two long clips. remove the pump and take out the colg that caused it to get stuck.

Whirlpool direct drive top loader will not spin

Hi, Is the humming noise coming from the timer area? Do you know if it agitates ok?
When you have it in spin cycle, Try lifting the lid and see if the hum stops.
The reason for these questions is that on this model, if it drains the water out but does not spin, it is either lid switch, coupler, or transmission.
If it's the coupler, it will not agitate either.
Please let me know so I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic
