Guitar hero (ps3) controllers buttons keep cutting out

I bought a guitar hero 3 on ps3 and all was fine for the first 4 months but all of a sudden the buttons kept cutting out, i read people entrys about how there 'dongle' caused there gutair to completly cut out but this is isolated to only 1 or 2 buttons at a time, is it the same fault or what?

i forgot to post it but i solved the problem. what u got to do is take of the neck of the guitar and on the microchip board at the base of the neck rub it with a rubber (make sure it comes in contact with all the metal dots) this worked for me.

p.s. u do have to repeat it after a while, lasts about a week.

i bought a new one and i have the same problem, it seems that this model is quite defective.
i don't think there is a permanent fix for this.

Ps3 guitar hero controller lights up two lights for controller numbers wont work any help?

From Activision's Support site:

The 2.80 firmware update causes the Guitar Hero instruments to connect to the Playstation with a high controller number. As a result Guitar Hero will not recognize the instrument at launch. To remedy this you will need to change the controller assignment in the Playstation 3 XMB system menu.

In the XMB go to Settings->Accessory Settings->Reassign Controllers. From here you will be able to change the controller number. Assign your first instrument to controller number 1 and increment the controller numbers for any additional instruments that you have connected. If you are using a microphone make sure to connect a standard PS3 controller before launching the game.

Sure the other games work just fine but you are using a ps3 controller to play them correct??

Yes it is different. The same goes for trying to get a ps2 controller to work on a ps3, it's not gonna happen.

You need to get GH3 with the ps3 controller in order to rock out on the ps3....
