Question about Televison & Video

My Mitsub. ws-65909 green power light turns on for about 3-4 seconds, then shuts off. On the front of the TV press and hold both Menu and Input (or device) TOGETHER FOR AT LEAST 5 SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS. Power light will blink an error code---for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks. 2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2 (10 double blinks) Can you tell me what is wrong and if it is worth fixing? Kirby

I am trying to avoid a repairman. Everything I am reading is to replace the capacitors on the DM board. I paid you so I would not have to pay a repairman $1000 to fix it.

Here is what I know with the information you gave me and the information I am getting from others that have the same problem.

First, I think I have pinpointed the Convergence IC as IC8C01 its part name and description for ordering is STK393-110. The two fuses are 5amp. Is this the only IC chip and fuses I need to replace?

Second, other bloggers are saying to replace the capacitors on the DM board and the tv should work fine. Is there a possibility that is all I would have to do?

Third, it is now 1:30 in the morning and I have to work tomorrow. So, as I continue to move forward in this little adventure, I have to call it quits for tonight. I will look for your answers in the morning...

Stay with me, I want my tv back asap!

Good day!

the service manual said you have some shorted parts on your TV...

I already experience that kind of problem before,,,

You need to replace the convergence IC and replace the F9A04 and F9A05. If you can solder and have experience working on a solid state printed circuit board. You can do this on your own..

For complete TV repair kits including parts go to http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/home.php?partner=larry

OK this are the answers to your follow up question:

    1. you need to replaced the fuses if it is busted or blown..The convergence I.C need to replaced but before you install the new I.C please check the components/parts near the I.C such as resistor (if open or change value),,,diode (if shorted)...

    2. If some bloggers suggest to replaced capacitors on D.M board...there is the possibility that have a bad capacitors on D.M board and also try to look at the other boards/section if have any leak/bulged on the top capacitors then replaced it with the same type, ratings and value before you replaced the STK####(convergence ic)because its expensive..and capacitor is more cheaper..
You need to look at any leak/bulged top capacitor on the whole board of your TV specially on the D.M board...before you replaced the I.C.

if the problem persist you need to replaced the I.C and its fix your TV..

Hi,
2blinks pause then 2 blinks indicated that the unit gone to short protect mode. Most of the short is in the power supply section with this kind of symptoms. Check the voltage regulator IC's(mounted in the heat sink for short circuit. The unit will not power up unless the shorted parts is isolated and replaced with new one.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to isolate the problem.

Also, check if your unit is still under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Opening the back cover will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

The model listed has a self check: when you turn it on and green power light comes on and goes out in a few seconds, on the front of the set press and hold both the Menu and Input(input may be labeled Source) at the same time and hold for at least 5 seconds.

Release both buttons and the power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat for a total of 5 times.

If you have unplugged the set you will have to plug it back and turn set on, let it fail and then do the check--removing power clears all errors.

Let me know what code you find.

My Mitsubishi Medallion tv stays on for about 10 minutes and then shuts down and won't turn back on until a period of time has passed. It is a rear projection tv about 9 years old. Can anyone help ex

When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.

What is the error code?

9 months ago our Mitsub WS-65611 starting turning

The part number you indicate is the STK-393-110 convergence IC that this set uses--it is possible it is bad again--if properly installed it should not have failed for at least 5 years.

When the set shuts off, on the front of the set engage the self check feature this set has: when the power light goes off ON THE FRONT OF THE TV press both the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light should blink a two digit error code: for example--2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks--this is the most common and it will repeat the code several times.

Let me know what you find---I am here to help people.

I have a Mitsubishi 65" Big Screen TV (WS-65909). I cannot turn it on. When I press the power button, the "Timer" light stays on for about 3 seconds and then turns off and nothing happens. TV does not...

tO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS YOU HAVE TO DO THE SELF-CHECK that this model has.

After you turn it on and the power light goes off:

On the front of the TV press and hold both Menu and Input (or device) TOGETHER FOR AT LEAST 5 SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS.

Power light will blink an error code---for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means. 2,2 is most common and the least expensive to fix.

My 65 inch projection TV turns off within a few seconds when I turn it on. Why? No pictures or sound.

If power light does come on and a few seconds later it goes off---do the self check that the WS65909 MITSUBISHI should have:

On the front of the set press and hold both the MENU and INPUT(OR DEVICE) BOTH FOR 5 SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS.

Power light should blink a two digit code--error code---for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks.

Let me know what code you get----it will repeat it several times---and I will tell you what it means.

Press in together the menu button and the Device/input button on the set and hold them both in together for 5 seconds and see if the led will blink a two digit error code, then respond to this same post and let me know if it gave a error code and what the two digits were.
