The motor may be repairable. Check with local electric motor repair shops in your area. The motor may need to be replaced though and if so, we sell it at www.arrowmotor.net

SOURCE: I have a Polaris LR51044 pump

Usually when a polaris booster pump hums it means 1 of 2 things; either the starting capacitor needs to be replaced (its located under the black hump on top of the motor) or the pump is bad. Most likely the starting capacitor needs to be replaces. This is where you should start since the capcitor is only $20-$30. Get a new capacitor from a local pool store, shut the power off to the motor, remove two screws on each side of black hump on top of motor, remove two wires from starting capacitor and install wires on new capacitor, replace cover and turn the pump on. If that doesn't work you will need to replace the motor.

You will probably just need to replace the pool cleaners backup valve kit. Call the manufacturer or a local company who sells parts for the cleaners and find out if they have it. It will be part number G52.

If you want to fix it all yourself then you can get parts to fix a pump like that. With the symptoms you have it may be a starting capacitor. You can take apart the pump to gain access to the impeller. If the impeller rotates easily then the motor is probably ok if you replace the capacitor. If you open it up and bring the capacitor or better yet the whole motor and or pump in to an electric motor repair company in your area they should have a new capacitor to sell you or a new motor if needed. A new capacitor may cost maybe 20 to 40 dollars and a new motor may cost you 200 to 300 dollars.

If you are not wanting to turn wrenches yourselfthen my best suggestion is to bring it to Leslies Pool Supplies and they oftencan put it right for the price of the parts while you watch (they may not have a cap or motor in stock).

I hope this helps.

Circulation Pump

If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Pump and Motor Assembly

If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller

The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

My Polaris 3900 isn't running with all wheels on surface of the pool. The back wheels are up and the doesn't wall climb or clean any of the seating ledge or the stairs. It also constantly gets stuck in...

Check the following things that could be causing problems in these pool cleaners. If it is getting stuck on stairs, etc., first check the wheel RPM and make sure it is correct. Verify that the back up valve is cycling (lift the valve out of the water and watch the jet - it should come on and go off). Adjust your thrust jets if necessary. You might also have to install a ladder guard kit (part #G21).

One of these might also be causing in to not connect to the pool surface, but for this problem, you will also want to check the cleaner head and make sure that it is not full of water. Replace if it is.

Loud squealing sound in my engine

Try removing the belt and turning each pulley by hand. If everything is smooth and free, with the belt still off, drive down the block once and see if the noise is there (this will eliminate all rotating accessories on the front). If you hear the noise, then there is a problem deeper inside. Oil pressure is good? Dont' forget when doing this, you will have no power steering, so be careful.
