If you have a multimeter, check the voltage to your igniter. If you have voltage to it (probably a pulse) then it has to be a bad ignitor IF you have gas to the oven. If you do not have voltage, then it is probably the switch that is bad.

JGSP48SHSS oven

if it gas and the bake isn't working correctly, first thing that usually goes is the ignitor, sometimes the ignitor will glow but won't lite the flame,it works on amps. a flat ignitor takes 3.2 amps to open the gas valve a round one os 2.5 amps.so the easiest way to check it is start the oven,if you can't see the ignitor glowing orange then remove the racks and the floor of the oven so you can see it,when the ignitor starts to glow it should ignite the flame within 40 seconds,if not change out the ignitor,if the ignitor doesn't glow then you need a meter to check it for continuity, disconnect the ignitor wires and check it with a meter, set it on say 20k ohms, touch the leeds to the ignitor wires,if it stays on 1 then the ignitor is bad,if you get any other reading other than 1 then it's good and you have a problem somewhere else but like i said most of the time it will be the ignitor.

Oven won't heat but burners light #jgbp28eek3db

Most likely its your electric ignitor. Remove racks from your oven. Remove the bottom plate in stove and it gives you access to the ignitor. Turn the oven on and see if your ignitor glows. If not replace ignitor. If it does than check the amperage going from ignitor to to gas valve. If you have anymore questions Please feel free to comment me.

Our MAGIC CHEF gas range has a pilot light that comes on, the ignitor comes on, but the oven does not work heat. Any ideas would be appreciated.

First off, decide which you have, a pilot lite or an igniter coil. In electronic controlled units, when the oven won't light, as long as there's gas available, 98% of the time the igniter is bad, even though the old one may glow and seem to be very bright, it could have a small hairline crack in the ceramic, which would not allow the proper amount of electrical current to travel to the gas oven safety valve, which would then make it open and release the gas. A new igniter works almost every time.

Replacing the Oven Ignitor.

That's all you have to do, cut them as close as possible to the old ignitor, strip them back about a quarter inch and connect them with ceramic wire nuts. Catriver

My ge gas range will not heat up

Inspect the ignitor for a crack or break in the continuity of a ceramic ignitor. If you can't visually discern a failure, then a multi-meter is need to check for resistance through the ignitor.
