Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

Debugging Mode
Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
Select safe mode with command prompt then type in chkdsk/f/r which will scan for and and attempt repair of bad files and bad sectors on hard drive
You should have no input while chkdsk utility is in progress any input might further damage your computer also

Acer M1100 is stuck in power save mode

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
if this fails to fix the problem

During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell what file has been corrupted or missing you might be able to work your way through problem if you are unable to find a solution

restart back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time
click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option

hope this helps

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. it could be win32 virus which has wiped one of your files that starts pc you might have to do a full windows xp reinstall check youtube to find out how to install windows xp.....if you downloaded something recently you can do a system restore through safe mode.... restart the pc when the first screen comes up press F8 a few times it will then ask you to start in safe mode and a few other options try selecting the option (boot from last known good configuration) if that doesnt work then resart the pc again then press F8 again few times then safe mode options will come up again then select safe mode hit enter key then let the files load it will look different when it starts press start then all programmes then select accessories then select system tools then select system restore dont use the default time to restore select different restore time pick a date on the next screen click on it then click next the pc will restore the pc to when it was working properly of that date you select..it will restart itself if that doesnt work you might have to a full system recovery install windows i mean again you will find videos on youtube showing you how to install your version of windows warning it will delete all files on your pc and then reinstall windows it will be like a new pc....bonnell

try this:
1- start your laptop in safe mode ( turn on then press F8 repeatedly)
2- double click my computer , then right click mouse on C:
on general tab , press disk cleanup, list will appeared , mark them all, then press delete or clean .
(dont worry , they all rubbish and took a huge space of your system and may affect in your system negativly ).
3- when you finish this , also go to internet options, on the general tab, press delete cookies, and also delete files .
4- when you finish them all, try to scan your computer with your antivirus program while you are in safe mode..

Its on welcome page, my daughter tried to change password , she can not get into her laptop..what can we do to get back in ...

you need to press F8 while the pc is booting up.

You will then get the option to start in safe mode, highlight this and press enter, a load of drivers will load warining you that you are in safe mode, click ok, then your account and administrator will show, click on administrator and then go to control panel>users>change an account, choose your account and then click delete password.

Close down the windows, reboot pc and you will be able to log straight into windows again.

Spyware/virus

Download and and install MalwareBytes from www.malwarebytes.org and Superantispyware from www.superantispyware.com. You may have to install in Safe mode, but give normal mode a try first.
With luck and crossed fingers, you may be able to get the updates that the two antispyware programs will offer, if not then allow the programs to run anyway. They are quite good and I have used them myself recently to clear up this computer from a major infestation.
Run them concurrently ( at the same time ), let them scan and clean, reboot your computer, then scan and clean again. By the third reboot, you will be almost clean. I hope you have good antivirus on your system because it should work also as the antispyware programs are doing their jobs. In other words you will see ( with a good antivirus, Avast Home Free for example ) both the antispyware programs plus your antivirus all working together to detect, and help you delete your infestation.
Come back if more info needed.

use safe mode..do a disc clean, defrag..and then reboot...sounds like the operating system headers went unhappy when you moved it(which I highly recommend you NOT do again)..
