Hi.
Most power cords connect at the back, underneath the monitor. With the monitor facing towards you on the bottom right hand side and should be a 3 pin socket.
If you can't find it please post the make of the monitor and I will tell you where the power cord plugs in.

The plug is one of two kinds--the first is the normal computer cord (has 6 sides). The other is a small DC-in jack of the type that you would expect a laptop to use. All depends on the monitor. Some monitors don't have the power adapter (120 v - 18 v) built in and must use an external block.
