Question about Sony Handycam DCR-VX2100 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Occasionally when I am getting ready to video tape the tape seems to go back to the last 5 seconds or so and starts playing. It's like I have hit the search button but I know I haven't. It doesn't happen all the time. usually i wait until it's done then start recording or shut the camcorder off and then turn it back on and record. I am on battery power while this happens. any suggestions why this is happening.
I'm not familiar with your particular model, but many cameras of this type have a "quick review" function that allows you to see what was recorded for the last few seconds to verify that all is well. This is critical in broadcast situations where you only get one shot to get the video. This is a quick way to verify that all is working without having a blank gap in the recording caused by an inaccurate rew/play/stop/rec sequence.
Check the manual for this "review" function.
