No picture I have a magnovox dlp hdtv 50". we have sound but no picture and the lamp light is illuminated red. we have had this problem before and thought it was a cooling issue. we propped a fan up to the back of the tv and within a few minutes, the tv worked fine. Now that is not working. Hubby is thinking it is the lamp. I just want to make sure before I buy one. Please let me know.

This is your lamp and the fan was just a temporary solution that was keeping the lamp cool. If you pull the lamp out you will see that it has shattered from the heat.

yes it can be fix, are you seeing a indicator lamp that flashes if you see this flashing light try to check the lamp at the back of your tv or look for the manual and check the lamp if damage. if the lamp is damage try to replace it in replacing the lamp it has a proper procedure it is in the manual to just follow the instruction and your unit will work again.
Loud sound you are hearing is coming from your color wheel and has your Lamp ever been replaced? this set has 3 Fans they all must be running for set to operate correctly! Encompass Parts has Boards and Color Wheel But for Lamps Mats has them for 99.00 1-800-628-1118 and EC Parts 1-800-638-3328
replace light bulb, if you are hearing a click like the stove is because the lamp balast is trying to power on the lamp, if you need part number and vendor please send me the model number

Pull the front cover off at the bottom. You will see a panel which has to be removed using a screw driver. Inside you will see the lamp assembly. It is a removable box. The lamp can be changed out by just changing out the connections on the new lamp. Before you pull it though try reducing your picture size to 4:3 it helped us to get a little more life out of our lamp.
