I have the exact same problem with my Pentax Optio L40. When I switch on, I get Green mode for 3 seconds, then it switches off again. No change when I fully charged the battery. No change when I changed for a different battery. Do I throw it away, or is there a software reboot/reset button that can somehow jump out of this?

When using flash it takes a couple of seconds to take photo hence picture is blurred

It's probably because you have enabled the slow sync flash mode.
To switch to the normal flash mode (auto flash) press your left directional key until the flash mode indicator near the top left of the screen (an icon with a "lightning" symbol) changes to an icon with a letter A next to the lightning symbol.
The slow sync flash mode is different from the normal flash mode; in this mode, the camera exposure duration can be a few seconds and the flash actuates at the beginning of the exposure. Although this is useful for certain photography techniques, you have to enable normal flash mode to take pictures in the normal way without blur.

Hi,

Initially, let's try a hard reset by removing the battery. Let it be without batteries for a couple of minutes to about an hour. Thereafter re-insert battery and try again. Additionally, pls verify that the battery is fully charged

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi,

Most problems of this symptoms indicates either:
1. Weak battery; or
2. Internal fault (which can either be hardware or software).

Initially, pls try removing the batteries for an hour or so hopefully doing a reset and will work from thereon.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

FUJI FINEPIX S100fd DIGITAL CAMERA: Is my camera dead, or am I missing something?? I put fully charged (rechargeable, not alkaline) batteries in my Fuji Finepix S100fd camera - actually a different set,...

You may have turned your screen off without knowing it. Does it have a eye piece viewfinder (part where you look through it)? If it does, can you look through it? If you can, that means your camera is still working. There should be a button on the camera to switch from eye-viewer mode to screen mode.

That's the best I got, maybe try to find something about that in the manual...

Camera turns on fine. I could view picture and all. Just that when I switch to camera mode a video screen is blacked out. Why is that?

Your have a "Display" button that toggles thru different display modes .. one of the modes turns off the LCD backlight .. that useful if you are in bright light and dont need the backlight .. you have a very nice "transflective" display that works great in bright light without the backlight ... you can get more shots with the backlight turned off on each battery charge .(about 25% more) .

so each time you operate the display mode button you will get a different display .. one shows a hystogram .. one turns off the backlight and one puts the camera in a normal mode ..

if everything is working right then even with the backlight turned off you should be able to go outside or any brightly lighted area and see the picture on the screen ..

Nikon memory card all of the sudden downgraded from 1G to hardly anything at all!?!

There are a couple of different things that could help this situation.

First, try deleting photos and videos and other files that might be occupying space on the card.

Secondly, look at the quality (in Movie mode, hit menu and select the quality button). Change it up and down, see what happens.

Thirdly, if you still have the problem, go back to your computer, right click on the card, and see how much space total, and how much free space it shows. If it shows most of the card is free, try taking the movie again. If that doesn't work, try a different card or use the same card in a different camera.

Good luck!

Green light turns on but no screen...please help thanks :)

I had this happen when my sd card was damaged when the battery compartment cover was bumped and opened when the camera was in the process of saving a picture. Remove your sd card and then see if you can bring the camera up and take a couple of pictures using the camera memory only. If you can do this, then buy a new sd card. What ever is on the damaged card may be lost
