I have the same receiver with the exact same problem. Mine started after we had a storm and was plugged into a surge protector. All Three fuses inside are ok I'm thinking it may be the output transistors shorted but not sure. Each channel is on it's own plug in board and I wondered about removing one at a time to see if I could narrow it down to one channel but I don't know if that would work or not. Any idea's?

My reciever has begun to display overload when playing CD's from my Sony CD/DVD player. I have to turn it off and it will reset but after a few minutes it went into overload. There is also a transformer like hum during operation. I can't remember when that began or if that is normal. Perhaps dust has built up inside and shorts something out?.....Help!

HI:
Usually receivers go into overload due to a bad speaker make sure you disconnect the speakers also to make sure its overloading from a bad speaker. If the unit still shows overload even with all speakers disconnected, then your main amplifier output has a short usually a shorted output transistor is the cause. Unplug the speakers one at a time to and turn the unit on after disconnecting one of the speakers , to determine which speaker is at fault.

My reciever plays then cuts out

They don't overload from missing speakers. I'm curious, what buggered the one speaker?

Examine all of your speaker wires carefully to be sure no unintended contact is made between them and anything else.

Is "overload" being displayed?

“OVERLOAD” starts flashing on the display.

Speakers are overloaded because of high volume.

1. Press STANDBY/ON on the front panel to turn off the receiver.
2. Stop the playback source.
3. Turn on the receiver again, and adjust the volume.
----------------
Speakers are overloaded because of short circuit of speaker terminals.

Press STANDBY/ON on the front panel, then check the speaker wiring.

If “OVERLOAD” does not disappear after turning on the receiver again, unplug the AC power cord, then plug it back in again.
If speaker wiring is not short-circuited, contact your dealer.

My Technics AV Control Receiver SA AX530 is in overload

An amplifier should never be turn on without speakers, it will overload internally.
make sure speakers work and try again.

Receiver Overload error message

Disconnect all speaker wires at the receiver, then turn it on and up. If it stays on, check your speaker wires one by one, then check your speakers one by one. If it still cuts out with nothing attatched, it needs serviced or replaced.

Vsx-517 keeps going into overload mode!

Try this:
1. Turn off the receiver.
2. Disconnect all the speakers from the back of the receiver.
3. Turn on the receiver. Does it still go into overload? If so, it may need repair.
4. If not, turn the receiver back off and connect one speaker at a time and turn it back on.

Most likely one of your speaker cables is shorted out causing your receiver to get overloaded. Or, one of the speakers is damaged, having the same effect.

Receiver overload problem

The overload message is indicating that a problem was found and the system is shutting down the output section to prevent further damage. There are probably poor connections on the main board and failing capacitors in the front end. Expect a parts vcost in the $10 range. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair bill.

What speakers are you using? Are they seperate from the TV set? How is the audio attached to the TV set. What inputs I mean are you using for the speakers and the sound for the TV set?
