My first thought is "yes" as long as it says Toshiba on it, but if you have one that fits, check for the same wattage, and amps. The whole thing could go up in smoke even if the adapter has the right voltage - if the amps supplied by the adapter are too high.

Thanks,
Mark

Try using another ac adapter, sounds like the adapter is failing. You can either ask if one of your friends has the adapter with the same connector and voltage (check that the wattage of the adapter is sufficient) or if someone has a universal ac/dc adapter for the test. If the laptop starts normally wiht another adapter, then get a replacement adapter and you are good to go.

AC power adapter wattage cannot be determined

The AC adapter needs to be replaced. You can buy one from Dell for about 100-200 dollars. If your laptop is still under warranty, the charger is often covered under the same warranty as the laptop and should be replaced under warranty if applicable. You may also buy a third-party charger off of ebay or amazon much cheaper, but this is not recommended. If you do consider a third party charger, make sure that it has the same wattage, voltage, everything! Good luck!

Please remove the battery and ac power adapter. hold power on button for 1-2 minutes. Then try to power on laptop with ac power adapter without battery. check the display of laptop.
If not check the dc voltage of the ac adapter. is it the same voltage as written on the ac power adpater. if not same please try with another adapter.
If not remove the hard disk and ram. clean the fan, ram. Reinsert ram and power on with ac adapter. check the display.
Please check with external display if laptop is turned on but no display.

Power to Toshiba L25 s1196 laptop

make sure the output wattage and voltage of the universal matches the original, if not you can damage the PC. look on the actual inverters, they take AC wall voltage and Transform it to DC power, the specs will be listed. some universals have switches to adjust the voltage, etc.

Keeps loosing battery/power

If it will not work on AC Adapter without battery in it, then you have a bad AC Adapter and the battery is fine. You don't have to get an expensive AC adapter from the original manufacturer. Just look on the bottom of the AC adapter and write down the Volts and Wattage. You can get another at a place like Lowe's or Home Depot. But you must make sure that the Voltage matches exactly, to much voltage and it will fry your computer, to little voltage and it will not run your computer.

Dead Sony Laptop

If power supply is supplying correct voltage, then you do not need power supply PCB.

Try starting the laptop with AC adapter and no battery, if battery is shorting out you may get same problem.

Test the soldering joint on the AC socket and laptop motherboard, if there is a bad soldering on laprop ac adapter socket, you get same symptoms.

If it is none of the above, and the adapter is fine, then it is usually a faulty motherboard.
