KP-57WS520 9 LED blinks

By NavAnd on Aug 18, 2008

" "
I have a Sony WEGA rear projection TV, model: KP-57WS520

The standby light flashes 9 times, pauses, and flashes.
I opened up the TV to check the G board. Did find it and found
the Diodes D6116 and D6301. I noticed that there is a connector that
is connect to right, so to replace do I have to unsolder and then solder
the new board if I buy one. Where can I purchase a new G-board for this
model of TV.

Thanks for any assistance.
I really appreciate your help.

-   Yes i have the same 9 led blinks and it will not turn on. Is it me or this sound like a common problem for this unit? Can someone post more on this g-board issue? I notice that thier was a few comments about not having to replace the whole board ang getting the parts from MCM Electronics. Someone please list more about this...Thanks Perry J. from St Petersburg Fl.-   Guest

-   Same issue. LED blinks 9 times. TV will not power up. I called for service. They said the CRT needs replaced. Said could not be repaired at my house but that they needed to take it to their shop. I do not know the vendor Premeir TV Repair 419-462-5275, bit Geek Squad from Best Buy referred me. Anyhow, the kicker, they said repairs would run $685, plus tax. The TV new 4 years ago was $1500!-   TheBanker999

Don't replace the entire G board! that is expensive! The diodes are available from MCM electronics and can be easily replaced.

I got one from a friend that he gave to me.
Only problem is he tried to replace them, Because once i looked at the board the diode on the top (componet side) was replaces with a 1n4001, and the one on the bottom side was gone.... and the traces are loose rom the board, and the transistor that it runs across had black tent on the legs, so i guess he tried to put a 1n4001 there also, not positive just a good guess. I think ill have to buy a g board because i don't think that i can buy the resistor and transistor and then not get them mounted to the board. any thoughts?

There is a problem whit this g board, one diode D6116 is a surface mount sometimes you can resolder these two but will work just temporarily it is recommended to install new ones, are u talking about the connector pluged to the antenna? this is usually hard to pluck from the G board you should try to disconect from the antenna instead, Don't break it cause these boards are discontinued from sony. Good luck.
