I am having the same exact problem. My mm50 worked perfectly for the past 2 years, but just recently the power went dead. No blue or red light. I plugged into multiple outlets, but to no avail.

The same thing happened to my mm50 today. It was playing tunes for about half an hour then suddenly crackled a bit then went completely dead. Tried different power cables but no luck. When I try and switch them on the button goes red, then flashes red, then goes off completely. Bought them on ebay about a year ago but they were brand new at the time. I am very disappointed as this seems to be a common problem with these speakers and no apparent cure.

I am also experiencing the same problem. For a while the speakers were running off of the reserve power (i.e. in travel mode, when the light turns purple instead of blue) but now that that ran out, the speakers will just not turn on no matter whichever outlet they are plugged into. At one point the power button did flash red for a few seconds when pressed, now nothing happens whatsoever if i press it - I think this means the spare power has completely ran out. Too bad...great speakers...this seems to be a common problem. I am going to try to contact logitech (i dunno if a spare power cord would do the trick?)

I have exactly the same problem; makes you wonder whether this is 'built in' obsolescence.

just a red flashing light now, no blue/purple light.

My mm50 speakers just stopped working

The power supply adapter is most likely the culprit. You can find a 12V Logitech mm50 replacement here:

Flashing Lights and No Sound

I am 100% sure the battery is dead.
Opening my mm50 I find that the small 2"X 1/4" battery is attached to the back, very near the charging socket. The battery is connected to the circuit board through a small plug-socket arrangement - no soldering here like iPod. So, it would not be difficult to replace it by a DIY enthusiast. But it would be difficult to find this non-standard replacement battery. Better leave the job to Logitech service, they'd would certainly replace it on charge basis.

Battery down but ok with power on MM50.

The battery for the MM50 speaker is VERY hard to find. Logitech does not make a replacement battery for this unit but here is a link to a site that carries it: Replacement NTA2335 Battery for Logitech MM50 iPod Speaker
The battery has a plastic connector which connects to the board so soldering will not be necessary. You just open up the back and switch it out. Easy Peasy!

Logitech mm50 very little sound coming from right speaker

Check the cables and see if there is a tear, or unscrew the cover of the speaker (if possible) and see if the contact is frayed or only holding by a couple of wires. This will reduce the sound quality.

If not, the speakers are faulty, and they are not worth replacing. Just purchase a new set.
