Good Day, mmurray1959;
To me it sounds like you to replace the lamp if you want to view your TV in the future. Good Luck, big IRISH. PS most lamps last about 5,000 hours.

Likely the lamp in the set has failed here which does make sense if the picture was dim before---a lot of lamps just before failing all the way dim down.

Sounds like the DLP lamp failed. You can decipher the Hitachi flashing red light. That should help to be sure.
The DLP lamp replacement is fairly straightforward and can be done with minimal tools

Good Day;
Try this:

Symptom: All Front LED indicators are flashing in sequence: Power-->Temp-->Lamp-->Power......continuously
Cause: Replace Lamp . This symptom may happen all the time or it may be intermittent. It is normal if it occurrs from time to time, See OG under TV Front Indicators explanation notes.
Good Luck, big IRISH.
