Message is telling me that the drum is dusty. It says to clean the corona with the wire. I don't know what the corona is and I cannot find a wire that might help me know how to clean the corona

SOURCE: OPEN THE FRONT COVER THEN CLEAN THE CORONA WIRE OF

This will solve most "Toner End Life" message problems when you know that there is toner still in the cartridge.
1. Remove the toner assembly by opening the top scanner lid, then pull(tilt) open the front panel, and pull out the toner assembly by gently grabbing the tabs and pull out with an upward motion. The toner cartridge(grey color) and the toner holder assembly (black color) will come out.
2. At the top rear of the assembly you will find a square green tab that can be slide along lengthwise of the toner. Just slide it back and forth fully several (5 to 10 times) times. I carefully blow on it as well(no spitting!) while sliding it.
3. Put the assembly back into the printer, Close the front cover, and drop the scanner cover.
4. Whala ! (usually), actually this has worked everytime for my brother and myself.

SOURCE: Pls Clean Drum

The drum is the larger plastic unit that slides out an the toner cartridge fits into it. The corona wire is the very fine wire at the front top of the drum. Just slide the little cleaning tab back and forth.

SOURCE: How do i clean the drum unit corona wire

HI
Open the front door and remove the Drum unit.

On the top of the drum unit, to one side, you should see a small blue knob, mounted into a slot. This is the Corona cleaner.
Slide it back and forth a few times, and make sure you return it to the original position.
That's it.
Put it back together and try it out.
Good luck.

MFC 7340 - I changed the toner cartridge, and cleaned the corona wire as instructed. When I put the drum unit back in, I get the message "Open front cover clean corona wire". I clean the corona...

The drum unit may be at it's end. There is a report you can print that will say "Drum" life at the bottom of the page. I think it's the "User Settings" or something. Though it sounds like you can't print to find this out anyway....Do you recall how many times you've changed the toner without changing the drum? Usually you can expect about 4-5 toners on every drum. Once the drum's photo sensitive coating wears off it is incapable of charging correctly to print. Might just be time for regular maintenance. panderson@cartridgeworldusa.com with questions.

Corona wire

I was getting the clean the corona wire problem message even after repeated cleanings.  Before this problem occured the toner light was flashing warning of low toner. When I got the clean the wire pop up the toner light was on all the time indicating the toner was depleated.  So, I thought I would try replacing the toner cartridge and see what happened. I opened the new toner box and noticed on the foil packege specific instructions to clean the corona wire when installing the new toner.  I installed the new toner and cleaned the wire one more time. I then reinstalled the drum and toner assembly into the printer and the clean the corona wire message did not come up again.  The printer now works fine.
