CM320205 no picture, 6 yr old tv. what is warrantee on CM picture tube?
For past 2 weeks, when set came on, it would be mostly dark with sporatic flicks of light & lines, on lower portion of screen. After 30 minutes of being on, or immediately with a light tap on the left side of rear housing, picture would appear. Seems as though it was a faulty picture tube. Now, at present, TV is dark. probably tube is blown. But, 6 year old set with blown picture tube seems unusual. Any thoughts?

I gotta love it when people make up answers. There is no such thing as a "contrass module". I'm assuming the poster meant "contrast". The trouble is your 12-year-old picture tube. It's gotten weak and isn't getting as bright or sharp as it used to. Picture tube manufacturers estimate the useful life of a tube at about 7 years today. There are adjustments inside that might help some, but you need a new picture tube. It's going to cost a lot more than $60 to $75 for that. You're better off replacing the TV.
Sounds like the red picture tube could be shorting internally which would cause the "all red" condition. In which case you'd have to replace the red tube. Are there horizontal (slightly slanted) lines through the picture as well when this is happening and a very very bright screen? If so it's most likely the tube.
The most common cause for what you are seeing is a shorted gun in the picture tube. When 2 elements (heater and cathode) of one of the guns inside the neck of the picture tube touch, that gun goes full on and overloads the flyback (high voltage) transformer. If it is in the blue gun, the screen will go bright blue with light blue "retrace" lines in it. The computer senses the overload and shuts the set off. At 2 years old the tech most likely tried removing the short by arcing between the elements. This works sometimes but the short often comes back a few months later. Another attempt at removing the short could be tried, and it might work this time, but it may or may not work for long. The ony other solution is to replace the picture tube but that would cost much more than the set is worth. A qualified tech will be able to tell you if this is the problem in your set.
It could be a bad solder connection on either the crt drive board that attaches to the neck of the picture tube, the video processing circuits on the main printed circuit board or the picture tube itself. If you can lightly bang the sides or top of the set to get the symptom to come/go, then it is most likely a bad connectiion. If, when the screen goes green, you see fine white lines diagnonally across the screen about a half inch apart, then it is likely the picture tube.
zenith have many problems with crt (picture tube) they comes be short or one or more canon fail, there are nothing to do, replace the picture tube, and thats a lot of money for an old tv...good luck
ps adjusting the screen and resoldering the picture tube card could help but remember there are many dangerous circuit in a tv...
Sounds like tyo me that the picture tube is getting soft on ya!!. Its a common factor that occours with all tvs but mostly with zenith. A service tech might be able for a small fee rejuvinate the picture tube but theres never a warrantee with this type repair. Its not something a user should attemp to do as theres hi voltage inside this set even on the tube socket after its ubplugged for awhile. Seek the advise of a repair pro to see how bad the tube is. Good Luck
The dark picture is a bad capacitor for the screen or drive voltage for the picture tube driver transistors. The other problem of streaking is one of the same. Thats the indication that a capacitors defective . It could in a rare cas ebe a defective or gassy crt as well but 99% of the time when a crt is said to be gassy its nothing more then poor drive to the crt. Good luck
