Probably missing the driver-you have to get from ACER-not Microsoft--first confirm that is the issue in DEVICE MANAGER--( I am guessing you have Windows XP?) go to START and right-click on MY COMPUTER>PROPERTIES>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER and look for any yellow exclamation marks or red "x"'s- here is the link for acer drivers http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3000_5000.html
