Neff dishwasher takes 3 hours, fails to dry dishes

Choosing different programmes and using reset buttons make no difference. Just out of warranty, moderate use. Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

Does the water get hot during programme, if not this will be why it takes so long and does not dry?

There is a white residue remaining on dishes after every washing/drying. If I add 1/4 cup lime-a-way, it helps. I have changed detergents, from Cascade to Finish, no difference. And, I have actually...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

First question is the unit under warranty? If it is DO NOT do anything other than the wash arm inspection that you already did on the inside of the unit. You will void the warranty.

Now outside the unit here is what you should do. Check the drain ports from the sink / garbage disposal connection all the ay back to where it connects to the bottom of the dishwasher for obstructions. The garbage disposal port is the source of many dishwasher drain / dirty post cycle dishes problems. This MUST also include taking the Air-Gap apart but lifting off the cover... unscrewing the inner cap nut and inspecting for food particles. The Air-Gaps are notorious for catching food particles just under the upper U cap that reverses the water flow direction. As you take the Air-Gap nut off and lift the inner cap.. NOTE the installed position. It only fits in ONE WAY and can give you fits! Just make sure you align the inner U cap in the original position.

Residual water in the bottom of the dishwasher post cycle is a sure sign of a drain problem.

One other thing you can also use to rid yourself of spotted post cycle dishes is a product called "Jet Dry" Rinse Agent. (assuming there are no drain problems) It comes in bottles for units with internal rinse dispensers and hanging baskets for those units without rinse dispensers.

If you unit is not under warranty there is more that can be done. I do however think that if you perform the above checks that you will resolve the issue.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Dishes with a lot of water left on them. What's the problem? Heating element?

Yes. if this unit is not drying properly, it will be the result of a failed heating element. make sure you are selecting the correct drying method as well. if its on air, it will have a completely different drying time and attribute. if you are selecting the correct assisted heated drying method and, the dishes are not drying, replace the heating element.

***Using the proper rinse agent will increasing the drying performance as well.

NEFF DISHWASHER S5443 STUCK IN TEST MODE

First try disconnecting the unit, completely from any power, for an hour or more, look in any control doors or access points for a small battery mounted to a board or in a holder, if you find one, take it out also, noting the positive and negative orientation.

If that doesn't do it, there are reset buttons under the tops or lids of some NEFF models, if there is an obvious lid after trying the no power trick, take off the top and look for a stand alone reset button.

If all that fails, write me back

NEFF Dishwasher Model 5623.25 keeps sticking during running

At what point in the programme does it stick, i.e. is it washing or rinsing or draining, does the water get hot?

Dishes are wet and the not drying

Try using just the rinse aid in the tablets, don't put anymore rinse aid in the dispenser(This may take a while for it to empty) this should help with the drying.
failing that look at manual that will tell you how to put the extra heat programme on

Dishwasher not drying

Same problem here. I read the manual very carefully. "OptiDry", "ExtraDry", "EcoDry", "condensation drying" -- lots of fancy words to cover the simple fact -- they DO NOT DRY the dishes. There is no heating element. I wish they would just state this up-front. Air drying the dishes for 24 hours after each wash is not workable for most users...
