Question about Ricoh IS 330DC Flatbed Scanner

Scanner Service The City of Bentonville (Arkansas) purchased several of these scanners to support our imaging needs for the City. One of these scanners has an issue that I'm not finding any information on via the troubleshooting web page. Scanning works properly however when finished and then returning later in the day to start another project, the red light is noticed to be on, and stays on and prevents any further use of the machine. Users must shut everything down completely and reboot, with the scanner being turned on prior to the computer itself being turned back on, before it can be used again. Once booted back up eveything works as it's suppose to, but then returns to that same status as it's left sitting again. This causes ever person needing to scan to repeat the same above process in order to use it. I beleive this to be one of the very first scanners we purchased and has already been sent back for repairs once. Our systems tech tried to figure out what's going on but has been unsuccessfull. Is there anything in particular that we should be looking for, or anything we can do to resolve this issue or will it be necessary to have a specialist service technician repair it?

    Thought this solution solved the issue however the next day the red light was on again and the scanner un-usable/wouldn't scan a document. I think it must be a hardware issue not a software issue.

    Scanner is about 4 years old so is out of warranty. This is the only scanner we've had this problem with but is one of the first we purchased. While still under warranty, prior to my employement here, it was sent back for some type of other repair. My perception is that most likely it's defective equipment. I'll check into the replacement of it and compare to the cost of past and future repairs.

    This scanner is about 4 years old and is one of the first we purchased. Therefore, is out of warranty. This is the only machine we've had this issue with, however prior to my employement here I was told that, while still under warranty, it was sent out for repair for some other issue. I believe its a defective piece of equipment. I'll definately check into the replacement of it and compare to past and future repair costs.

Have you tried uninstalling the scanner and reinstalling it? Do you have the original software for it. If you do not then you should be abe to obtain a driver download at this site:

If you need to download the driver, be sure to do a clean download which means you need to turn off the scanner and unplug it,to turn off all running programs to do this including virus control. Download the file and save it to your desktop then click on it to install. Restart your computer.

    i asked about the age of the scanner becasue teh cost of a scanner has come down alot in the past few years and sometimes, You are better off to replace than repair so be sure to obtain an estimate.

Error e9 on fi 6770 means what?


Hello,
E-9 error in Fujitsu fi-6670/fi-6770 is the Image Memory Alarm which implicates scanner memory malfunction.Turn off and turn on the scanner, does the same symptom still occurs? If yes, then you may have to replace the DIMM located at the memory slots on the CGA board. If the issue still persists after replacement of DIMM, then you may have to replace the Control PCA. I would recommend to contact an authorized FUJITSU scanner service provider or the dealer where you purchased the scanner.

How can i scanner my document


You need to install the scanning program first, it should be in a CD when you purchase the scanner. Install the program, install scanner to make sure that scanner works. Once it's done, you lauch a program, put you document in scan and scan it, the image should be saved into your computer.

My scanshell 800 DXN has started scanning lines over the card image almost like there's something on the scanner eye. Is there a way to clean it?


I am very familar with the scanshell scanner you have I have repaired several of them in the past.

There really isnt anything that wrong with your scanner it just needs to be calibrated. When you purchased it there was a calibration sheet included in the box that you need to use I hope you still have it. If not go here to purchase some new sheets http://www.scanshell-store.com/accessories.htm They used to be free but when I looked at there web page they are not listed any longer. Also here is a link to a 800 manual which describes how to run the calibration process http://www.id-reader.com/ftp/applications/manual/scanshell_manual.pdf This will correct your problem and your scanner will be as good as new again.

Scaning only one side ( Right Side )of document.


I have many years repairing Canon scanners so I hope my suggestions help you out.

The problem your having is a common one with your model of canon scanner. It can be one of several things.

First it can be as simple as running some diagnostic paper through your scanner to resize the image. A certified canon technican can do this for you.

Second it can be a loose connector to the photo lens on your scanner causing the cut off image your experiencing now.

Lastly it could be the photo lens itself an the lens has failed and needs to be replaced. If that is the case I would suggest you purchase a new scanner because it will be cheaper then the cost of the repair.

Hello I have recently purchased a second-hand CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner and it was accompanied by OmniPage SE Software. The reason for this purchase was to scan research papers for a friend. My experience...


Don't use the OmniPage software for scanning. OmniPage is an OCR (optical character recognition) program and is trying to convert the scan into a document compatible with a text editor (such as Microsoft Word). Use a graphics editing program, and use the option to 'Import' or 'Acquire' an image. Make sure that the LiDE 25 is specified as the scanner, and you should be linked to the scanner interface. Now when the scan is complete, it will be transferred to the graphics editor as an image, not a document.

Nah i didnt get into any trouble,, feel free to use us anytime!!! I'm happy the scanner worked if you need any more help you know how to find us..Next time that happens with the scanner try unplugging it restart the system and then plug it back in.. :)

Check the scan with normal flat copy. If that scan is OK it is not the scanner.Have a rethink about how you are scanning If the the test scan comes up odd Come back with what software you are using to with thew scanner[Image editor etc.,] Do more tests before junking the scanner - that will be last move.
