I have little or no programs.

Just the basics and microsoft word.

How can a 1 gig memory be burdended with that.

Not that the system crawls but it has momentary delays.

You know when you click the start button and it takes a extra 20 seconds to respond.

Same with opening other programs and folders.

Even shutting down and starting up takes more time.

Even when am using an application it delays ....

like as if there is a service drawing the system resources and then it releases and its free again.

I have little or no programs.

I noticed the problem might have started when i inserted a flash drive on my system without scanning though my antivirus did not alert me.
or when a game crashed midway.
    ever since that day.
I dont know which event might have caused this

If that's the case try running a Anti virus like Avast, Nod32 then also a Anti spyware like spydoctor, But if its still the same better to od a reformat on your computer just copy first your file so you will have a clean computer..

Hope that helps........

Try replacing or upgrading your RAM it sounds like your PC is overworked and the bsod is probably a result of data loss due to low ram

I have seen a similar issue on my wifes laptop and upon checking the task manager I found that certain services had experienced an error and were using up all my system resources. I was unable to pinpoint the exact issue so I performed a format on my partition and reloaded the os and now it works great

You may need to "wipe" or reformat your entire C drive to be able to install Windows program again. I would suggest installing WIN7 program as WIN XP is at its end of life cycle for that operating system and Microsoft may not support it any longer.

If possible try installing WIN7 once again, and if requested to reformat or do an entire install, choose YES.

WIN 7 should then reformat your C drive, erase everything that is on it and then install as WIN7 program.

Be sure you have your program license key to install WIN7.

Windows has crashed, some file required got corrupted. Your options are repair of the Windows or a clean install. Put the CD in and try to repair it, if that doesn't work you will need to do a clean install of Windows.

In all notebooks and laptops you have Recovery CDs that you use in a situation like this. If you have the recovery disks, then insert the disk number 1 in to the drive and reboot. Follow the instructions and WIndows gets installed. You loose all data and programs. You will have to reinstall all of them including MS Office etc etc. But all the programs that came as OEM will be reinstalled. If you are trying to install WIndows the way it is done on a PC then you miss out on many facilities like WiFi, the Fn keys etc. You do not have to buy a new HDD unless the old HDD crashed because it got damaged. In that case you do need a new HDD. But the installation procedure stays the same.

01. If the Laptop is under Warranty, you will get the technical support from the wep after typing the following website :
http://support.ap.dell.com/support/supportrequests/api/create.aspx

02. Frequent hanging may be due to Harddisk crash or latest antivirus patch not updated.

03. Please update the latest antivirus patches and run for any virus checking.

04. Over phone you will get Gold Technical support from Dell Service Support Team.

05. If Dell team is not able to solve the problem, either they will replace the Laptop or send some local Dell Authorized service engineer to give solution for the same.

06. On Daily basis, please take a backup in DVD CDs-R/W (4.7 GB Memory) after selecting the files to be backed up daily or weekly.

07. Better advise to replace the Laptop or Replace the HDD from Dell Team.
